Buenaventura Lakes is an unincorporated community of 30,251 people northeast of Kissimmee, near the interchange of the Osceola Parkway and Florida’s Turnpike. Its north side borders Meadow Woods in Orange County, so the county line runs right along its edge. That puts the community beside one of the heaviest truck routes in the region: FDOT counts about 23,135 trucks a day on the Turnpike nearby, 1 in every 5 vehicles. When a diesel stops here, RDI Power sends a technician from Brooksville to diagnose it and, when the repair allows, fix it on the spot. We have no shop in Osceola County; the service truck is the shop.
Turnpike exit 249 on the Buenaventura Lakes line
Exit 249 at the Osceola Parkway is listed on the line between Kissimmee and Buenaventura Lakes. With trucks making up 20.1% of the 115,100 vehicles a day on the nearby Turnpike, a stopped truck on the shoulder sits close to a lot of heavy traffic. The mile marker and direction are what we need first, then the truck’s make, engine and symptoms. Keep everyone off the travel side and well behind the truck while you wait, and leave the triangles out until the technician arrives.
If the truck can still move safely and the warning lights are yellow rather than red, taking exit 249 and getting off the Turnpike into a lot usually makes a better work area than the shoulder.
The Osceola Parkway from Buenaventura Boulevard to Simpson Road
The Osceola Parkway is the community’s main east to west road. Its eastern end is at Simpson Road on the Osceola and Orange county line, and the stretch between Buenaventura Boulevard and Simpson Road was widened, with a target completion date in 2015. Only the section between SR 417 and a toll plaza east of Shingle Creek is tolled; the Central Florida Expressway Authority runs those tolls, while Osceola County maintains the road. CFX has also been designing an extension east as part of the Osceola County Beltway System. For a breakdown call, give the nearest cross street, Buenaventura Boulevard or Simpson Road for example, and the direction of travel.
Osceola or Orange County on the north side of Buenaventura Lakes
Because Buenaventura Lakes borders Meadow Woods, a truck a few blocks north may technically be in Orange County. That does not affect our coverage, which reaches about 100 miles from Brooksville, but it helps the technician find the truck. Tell us the street, a landmark and the county if you know it. Trucks on the Orange side are covered on our page for mobile diesel repair in Meadow Woods.
Waiting for the technician near Buenaventura Lakes
A few habits keep a small failure from becoming a bigger one before help arrives. If the engine will not start, stop trying after a couple of attempts; long cranking flattens the batteries and cooks the starter, and the technician needs both to test the system. If the truck shut down hot, leave the cooling system closed until it has cooled off. Look under the truck from a safe spot and note any puddle and its color: green or orange points to coolant, amber to oil, a strong diesel smell to fuel. Write down the warning lights, and keep the unit number and VIN handy for the call back.
What a Buenaventura Lakes on-site visit fixes
The technician starts with a scan and a direct test, then repairs what the visit can fix properly. Matched to the symptom you called about, that usually looks like:
- Will not crank: batteries, cables and starters
- Battery light or dim gauges: alternators and charging wiring
- Running hot: belts, hoses and leaks at reachable fittings
- Stumbling or quitting under load: fuel filters, water separators and air in the fuel
- Derate or stop-engine light: sensors, connectors and wiring
- Brakes will not release on a tractor or trailer: air lines, fittings and brake chambers
Every repair is written up in a digital vehicle inspection with photos, and it carries the same 3-year / 36,000-mile labor warranty as shop work.
Buenaventura Lakes repairs that go north to Brooksville
When the problem is inside the engine or the transmission, or the fix needs a lift, the truck goes to our shop on Donto Way in Brooksville, our only location. We plan that move with you once the cause is confirmed, and the technician’s findings and photos travel with it.
