Mobile diesel mechanics and fleet maintenance in Seminole County

Central Florida's beltway was finished in Seminole County in January 2024, at the I-4 and SR 417 junction in Sanford. RDI Power technicians come out from Brooksville to repair diesels at Seminole yards, job sites and roadsides.

Mobile diesel mechanics and fleet maintenance in Seminole County, RDI Power

Seminole County sits between Orlando and the St. Johns River, and a lot of through-traffic crosses it: I-4, the SR 417 toll road, the newly finished SR 429 beltway and US 17/92 all run through it on the way to somewhere else. Inside the county you find an international airport, a rail yard, parcel and contractor fleets, a working sod farm and city waste routes. RDI Power has no shop in Seminole County. Our technicians come out from Brooksville, repair trucks where they are, and plan bay work into Brooksville when that is the honest answer.

I-4, SR 417 and the Sanford beltway junction

The I-4 Ultimate rebuild ends at SR 434 in Longwood, where its express lanes stop for now; FDOT’s planned Beyond the Ultimate segments would carry them on through Lake Mary toward Volusia County. Longwood is also where I-4 has a rest area pair serving both directions. The SR 417 Seminole Expressway has been all-electronic since cash tolls ended on January 19, 2025, and FDOT’s 2025 counts put about 13,500 trucks a day on it near Winter Springs and Oviedo, about a fifth of its traffic.

In Sanford, the last 2.63-mile Wekiva Parkway segment opened on January 26, 2024, joining the I-4 and SR 417 junction and completing the beltway around Central Florida. SR 417 and SR 429 share I-4 for about 2 miles there. Farther south, Casselberry’s US 17/92 flyover over SR 436 opened in 2015 at a junction that had averaged 3 crashes a day, and SR 414, the John Land Apopka Expressway, meets SR 434 in Altamonte Springs. Our pages on mobile diesel repair in Sanford, mobile diesel repair in Casselberry and mobile diesel repair in Lake Mary cover breakdowns on these roads.

Airport, rail yard and parcel hubs: who runs diesel in Seminole County

Orlando Sanford International Airport covers about 3,000 acres with 4 runways, the longest at 11,002 feet, and logged 394,203 aircraft operations in 2025. Nearby, CSX keeps Rand Yard for freight car storage, SunRail’s vehicle maintenance base and control center share the site, and Amtrak’s Auto Train starts its daily run to Lorton, Virginia from Sanford. CSX still holds rights to run a limited number of night freight trains on the SunRail corridor.

Along I-4, Longwood’s 2023 financial report ranked a UPS operation 3rd among the city’s employers with 653 workers, and roofing, building services and energy services contractors also made its top 10. Lake Mary has grown into an office and corporate hub along the same corridor. Out east, the Duda family’s sod operation still runs at Oviedo, and the city authorizes 7 private haulers for commercial waste. See fleet maintenance in Longwood and fleet maintenance in Oviedo.

Waste collection is split city by city. Sanford, Lake Mary, Longwood and Winter Springs franchise Waste Pro, Altamonte Springs collects its own residential garbage with a cart tipper system, and Casselberry’s commercial waste runs under an exclusive GFL agreement. Seminole County Public Schools moves about 32,000 students a day on 267 routes, and county Fleet Services runs 3 service locations and fuel stations that dispense nearly 1 million gallons a year. Fleet maintenance in Altamonte Springs and fleet maintenance in Winter Springs look at the west and east sides.

Fixing trucks on site in Seminole County

On-site work in Seminole County happens at commercial and contractor yards, at job sites, and on the shoulders of I-4, SR 417 and US 17/92. On a highway, the technician decides first whether the spot is safe; a rest area, an interchange lot or a side street is often a better place to work. At a yard or job site, we need firm ground beside the truck and access through the gate.

From there, the work follows a set order. Dealer-level diagnostics go on the truck, including Ford IDS and WiTECH for pickups and heavy duty software for tractors and vocational trucks. Codes and live data point to a system, testing confirms the part, and the repair follows. Charging and starting faults, air brake leaks, cooling leaks, fuel filters, water in the fuel and wiring faults are common field fixes. If an engine has to come apart or a transmission has to come out, that happens in Brooksville, and we plan the move around your schedule.

The visit is written up as a digital inspection with photos, and on-site labor carries RDI Power’s 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. The mobile diesel repair page explains how on-site service works.

RDI Fleet plans for Seminole County operators

RDI Fleet gives a Seminole operation a schedule built on its own trucks. After a walk-around inventory at your yard, each class gets intervals that fit: parcel and delivery trucks on miles, roll-off and contractor trucks on hours with PTO time counted, buses on the calendar. Annual DOT inspections are paired with PM so each unit leaves service once.

Fleet accounts get priority scheduling, 24/7 roadside assistance and a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty on fleet repairs, and every visit adds photos and notes to each unit’s history. The fleet maintenance page covers the program. Call with what you run in Seminole County and where it parks, and we will lay out a plan.

Questions we hear

Does RDI Power have a Sanford or Lake Mary location?
No. RDI Power has a single shop, in Brooksville. Technicians come to Seminole County yards, job sites and roadside locations, and a repair that needs a bay is planned into Brooksville with you.
Can a technician meet my truck at the I-4 rest area in Longwood?
Yes, if the truck is parked in the truck area and not on the ramp or shoulder. Tell us which direction's rest area you are in and what the truck did before it stopped.
Can an RDI Fleet plan cover roll-off and contractor trucks based in Seminole County?
Yes. Roll-off and vocational trucks are usually set on engine hours with PTO time counted, pickups and vans on miles, and each unit's annual DOT inspection is done on the same visit as its PM.
