Sumter County sits east of Hernando and Citrus counties, and for diesel owners it is defined by two things: agriculture and I-75. Bushnell, the county seat, is about 28 road miles from our Brooksville shop; Webster and Lake Panasoffkee are a little farther.
Farm country with a working past
The Sumter County Farmers Market in Webster began in 1938 as a farmers’ cooperative with weekly livestock sales, and cattle, hay and vegetable operations still run across the county. Those operations depend on diesel pickups, stock trailers and equipment haulers that have to be ready when the work is. Our agriculture fleet service works around those schedules.
The I-75 corridor
I-75 crosses the county with interchanges at CR-48 near Bushnell and at Lake Panasoffkee, and a large truck stop at Exit 314 added nearly 100 truck parking spaces. When an over-the-road truck breaks down here, mobile repair or fleet roadside assistance gets it moving without a long tow. The CSX line along US-301 adds rail-served businesses and the trucks that serve them.
Public fleets
Bushnell runs its own electric, water, wastewater and sanitation utilities, and the county school district operates its buses from a new garage in nearby Sumterville. Municipal and school fleets like these are a natural fit for RDI Fleet plans: scheduled maintenance, DOT inspections and documented records for every unit.
