Masaryktown was founded by Slovak and Czech settlers, and it still carries the name of Tomas G. Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia. It is small, 1,077 people at the 2020 Census, and it sits on US-41 right at the Hernando and Pasco county line, with Brooksville on every address because of ZIP 34604. RDI Power repairs diesel trucks for Masaryktown at our only shop, about 16 minutes north, and sends mobile technicians when a truck should not make that drive.
A Slovak colony on the county line
The town was founded between 1924 and 1926 by immigrants from New York and Pennsylvania. Of the 61 founders who formed the Hernando Plantation Company, 60 were Slovak and 1 was Czech. Their original land purchase straddled the county line, about 9,500 acres in Hernando and 14,500 in Pasco, though today’s census boundary sits in Hernando only.
It was a working town from the start. The company built a rock crusher plant to prepare limestone for roads and farm use and ran a sawmill to supply settlers with lumber. Frosts killed the first citrus groves, and according to the state historical marker, Masaryktown became an egg poultry farming community. The former Masaryk Hotel, built in 1925 at 398 Broad Street, carries a Florida historical marker, and the street grid still tells the founders’ story: east-west streets honor Slovak and Czech patriots and writers, and north-south streets are named for U.S. presidents.
US-41, County Line Road and the Ayers Road bypass
US-41 (Broad Street) runs along the eastern side of the community, and a plaque marks its intersection with Wilson Boulevard. County Line Road (CR-578) forms the southern edge along the Pasco line, with Shady Hills on the other side. Spring Hill borders Masaryktown to the north and west, and Garden Grove to the northeast.
Traffic patterns here are shifting. Since it was completed between 2021 and 2022, the Ayers Road Extension (CR-576) has carried drivers around the town toward Spring Hill, and it is planned as the opening leg of a longer 4-lane route to US-19. On Broad Street itself, a $7.93 million FDOT resurfacing project is due to start in late 2026, with new turn lanes at the Ayers Road junction among the changes; our Masaryktown semi truck page covers what that means for heavy trucks.
Getting from Masaryktown to the shop
Measured from the middle of Masaryktown, it is roughly 9.7 road miles to the shop, up US-41 and onto Cortez Boulevard (SR-50), about 16 minutes behind the wheel. Once the resurfacing starts, give yourself a few extra minutes. Shop hours run Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
If the check engine light is steady and nothing else feels wrong, the trip is usually fine. A flashing light, a temperature gauge near the top, an oil pressure warning or a derate that will not let the truck hold speed is the signal to stop and call (352) 433-3800. Driving a sick engine 10 miles is how a fixable problem becomes a major one.
What a Masaryktown diesel gets at RDI Power
Every weight class comes through: half-ton and heavy-duty pickups, vans, box trucks, Class 8 tractors, buses and diesel pushers, powered by everything from a Power Stroke or Duramax to a Detroit or a Caterpillar. We start by listening, because when and how a problem shows up narrows the list fast. Then comes dealer-level software, Ford IDS on Fords and WiTECH on Ram and other Stellantis trucks, followed by direct tests of the suspect system. Fuel system parts come from Bosch, where RDI Power is a dealer, and from Alliant Power, and on the heavy side the shop is Caterpillar certified.
Nothing is replaced on a hunch. You see the evidence first in a digital inspection with photos and technician notes, and the labor on the repair is backed for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Our diesel service and repair overview lists every system we handle.
