Pasadena Hills has no downtown, no city hall and no post office of its own. It is about 30 square miles of east Pasco where the Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Dade City and San Antonio ZIP codes meet, a mix of open countryside and brand new subdivisions, and the 2020 Census counted 11,120 people living there. RDI Power serves it from Brooksville. This page covers what makes Pasadena Hills different from its neighbors, how the drive to our shop works and which of our Pasadena Hills pages fits your truck.
Pasadena Hills, planned in 1925 and replanned as 13 villages
Wikipedia dates the first plan for Pasadena Hills to 1925. The plan that shapes it today arrived much later. The Villages of Pasadena Hills, established in 2008 and put into effect in 2009, covers more than 20,000 acres divided into 13 villages lettered A through M. Its entitlements allow 41,987 homes and 2.26 million square feet of commercial space. More than 7,000 acres, about a third of the planning area, are designated to stay open as the Countryside Area. The northern boundary touches SR 52 and takes in part of San Antonio, and the Census first listed Pasadena Hills as a census-designated place in 2010.
Homebuilding is well underway. Pulte’s Vida’s Way counts 305 homes in its first phase, Homes by WestBay is building the 579-home Pasadena Ridge and Magnolia Island, and Lennar and KB Home have communities here too. Older neighborhoods such as Watergrass, Oak Creek and Stonebridge sit close by.
Pasadena Hills mail carries 4 town names
Ask 4 neighbors in Pasadena Hills for their address and you may hear 4 different towns. The area splits across Dade City 33525, Wesley Chapel 33545, Zephyrhills 33541 and San Antonio 33576. For our purposes it makes no difference. Every one of those addresses inside Pasadena Hills is served by the same shop, the same technicians and the same phone number.
Handcart Road to I-75: the drive from Pasadena Hills
From the middle of Pasadena Hills, our mapping data runs out Handcart Road and Curley Road to Mirada Boulevard and SR 52, west to I-75 at Exit 285 and north on the interstate. From there, Lake Lola Road and Spring Lake Highway lead up to SR-50 and into Brooksville. That is about 32 road miles, roughly 48 minutes when traffic is light.
Much of that drive is new. The 7-mile, $82 million SR 52 realignment opened in February 2023 with signals at Mirada Boulevard, Curley Road and Prospect Road, built to handle the growth in East Pasco. For a healthy truck the trip is straightforward. For a truck that is overheating or in reduced power, 32 miles at highway speed is a long way to push it, so call first.
What Pasadena Hills construction and countryside mean for a diesel
Pasadena Hills is a construction corridor. Subdivisions are going in village by village, SR 52 was just rebuilt, and county plans call for 6 lanes on Curley Road and US 301 by 2065, 4 lanes on Handcart Road and an extension of Handcart Road north to SR 52. That is job-site country, and job sites are hard on diesels in predictable ways:
- Dust. Any gap in the air filter seal lets grit into the intake, where it wears turbochargers and engines from the inside.
- Idle time. A truck that idles at a site builds engine hours with little mileage to show for them, which is why oil and filter intervals on those trucks should follow hours.
- Soot. Low-speed work rarely gets the exhaust hot enough for a full regeneration, so particulate filters and EGR systems load up.
- Short hops. Trips between neighborhoods and the store are short, and short trips cause the same soot problem on a daily-driver pickup.
The repair process is the same for every truck. We scan with dealer-level software, Ford IDS and WiTECH included, test the system the codes point to and find the root cause before replacing anything. A digital vehicle inspection then puts photos and the technician’s notes in front of you before you approve the work, so a Pasadena Hills owner 32 miles away still sees exactly what we see in the bay. Fuel system repairs use Bosch and Alliant Power parts where they apply. Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit and Volvo engines are all familiar to us, in light, medium and heavy duty trucks, and RDI Power is Caterpillar certified. Our diesel service and repair page lists everything we handle.
A Pasadena Hills repair is backed by the same 3-year, 36,000-mile labor warranty as one done for a customer down the street from the shop, and active military, veterans, police and fire save 10%.
