Quail Ridge is small, newer and organized around an interchange. The Census counted 2,195 people here in 2020, spread over about 4.6 square miles of Pasco County, nearly half a square mile of it water, and Suncoast Parkway Exit 27 at SR 52 sits at the community’s door. RDI Power’s only shop is in Brooksville, about 22 road miles north. For a running diesel, that is a toll-road trip of a little over half an hour; for one that is not running, a mobile technician can come to it.
Exit 27 and the 2 sides of SR 52 in Quail Ridge
The interchange is listed at Quail Ridge, and its signs point drivers toward Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Wikipedia notes a former Florida Highway Patrol barracks and a Division of Forestry fire tower at its southeast corner. SR 52 changes character at the Parkway: to the west it was widened to 6 lanes in 2007 toward Moon Lake Road, while to the east it narrows to 4 lanes toward Fivay Junction and Shady Hills Road. Trucks that use this stretch see both versions of the road in a single trip.
Lone Star Ranch, Serengeti and a Spring Hill postmark
The neighborhoods are recent. Lone Star Ranch and the gated Serengeti subdivision both fall inside Quail Ridge. Canyon Boulevard links SR 52 to Lone Star Ranch on the north side and to Suncoast Lakes on the south, and Serengeti, reached by way of Hays Road, has homes built from 2017 on. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School also sits on Hays Road within the community. Many addresses use ZIP 34610, which carries the Spring Hill postal name even though Quail Ridge is in Pasco County, not Hernando; others fall in 34669.
Exit 27 to Exit 46: the run from Quail Ridge to Donto Way
From the middle of Quail Ridge, the usual route takes SR 52 to Exit 27, the Suncoast Parkway north to Exit 46 at SR-50, and then SR-50 (Cortez Boulevard) east into Brooksville. That is about 22 road miles and roughly 32 minutes in normal traffic, most of it on the toll road. A truck that runs and drives normally can make that trip without a second thought. One that is overheating, derating, losing oil pressure or flashing its check engine light should not, and that is the time to call instead of drive.
Toll-road miles and Hays Road traffic on a Quail Ridge diesel
2 very different duty cycles meet here. A truck that uses Exit 27 every day piles up steady highway miles, which wear injectors, high-pressure fuel pumps and turbochargers and make clean fuel filters and a healthy cooling system more important than usual. Highway running is kind to the emissions system, though, because a long run at speed lets the particulate filter regenerate fully.
If your truck works the Hays Road corridor instead, which runs north from SR 52 through Quail Ridge toward the North Suncoast Industrial Park and the county’s resource recovery complex at 14230 Hays Road, short loaded runs and idle time are the bigger threat. Those are the conditions that clog particulate filters, foul EGR valves and coolers, and set off derates.
Either way, the diagnosis follows the same discipline. We read codes and live data with dealer-level software, including Ford IDS and WiTECH, test the suspect system directly, and send you photos and notes from a digital vehicle inspection before any work is approved. The repair goes after the root cause, and the labor is covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Our technicians work on Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit and Volvo engines in light, medium and heavy duty trucks, and RDI Power is Caterpillar certified. The whole range is laid out on diesel service and repair.
