Brookridge is a gated, deed-restricted community for people 55 and over, with 4,658 residents at the 2020 Census, a private golf course and many manufactured homes sitting on lots their owners hold outright, with no lot rent. Addresses read Brooksville 34613, though the community is 6 miles west of downtown. RDI Power’s shop is in the same direction as downtown, about 13 minutes east on Cortez Boulevard from the middle of Brookridge, and it repairs diesel pickups, work trucks and heavy rigs of every common make.

Brookridge between the Parkway and Barclay Avenue

Roads define Brookridge’s edges. The Suncoast Parkway forms Brookridge’s east edge, with its SR-50 interchange, Exit 46, right at the community’s corner and the toll road running 50 miles south to Tampa. Cortez Boulevard (SR-50) runs along the southern edge. Directly across SR-50 from the front entrance, Barclay Avenue (CR-585) comes to an end after its run up the Anderson Snow Road corridor from County Line Road.

To the north, Ken Austin Parkway carries a 3-school campus at Brookridge’s edge: Central High School at 14075 Ken Austin Parkway, West Hernando Middle School and Pine Grove Elementary. High Point borders the community on the west, Spring Hill lies across SR-50 to the south, and the Suncoast Trail crosses SR-50 on its own pedestrian and bicycle bridge just west of the Parkway.

Where the diesels are around Brookridge

Inside the gates, Brookridge is homes, Brookridge Central Boulevard and a 6,054-yard, par 72 golf course. The heavier diesel traffic is on the edges. West of the entrance, SR-50 is lined with frontage roads, a Walmart Supercenter and a Sam’s Club. The interchange at Exit 46 feeds the Parkway, and Barclay Avenue connects SR-50 to the Pasco line.

Those roads describe 2 very different diesel lives. One belongs to a pickup that leaves Brookridge for a run down the Parkway, perhaps with a trailer, and racks up highway miles. The other belongs to a commercial truck working the SR-50 frontage, all short hops, docks and parking lots. Our Brookridge truck repair page goes deeper on the pickups, and fleet operators working this stretch can read about plans on fleet maintenance in Brookridge.

From Brookridge east on Cortez Boulevard to Donto Way

From the census center point of Brookridge, the route to our shop is simple: out to SR-50 and east about 6.4 road miles, past the Parkway interchange, for a drive of roughly 13 minutes. The bays open at 7:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Dropping a truck off at opening time gives the technician the whole day, and you hear from us once there is evidence, not a guess.

How a Brookridge diesel gets diagnosed

Symptoms point to systems, and each system has a test that proves or rules it out:

  • Hard starting. Batteries and cables get load-tested first. On a Power Stroke or Duramax, glow plugs and the glow plug module are next; on a 6.7 Cummins, the intake air heater takes their place.
  • Low power or a derate. We check boost and look for intake leaks, measure fuel pressure, compare injector balance rates and read exhaust backpressure, because a plugged particulate filter can feel exactly like a weak engine.
  • Smoke. Black usually means too much fuel or too little air, white can mean unburned fuel or coolant, and blue points to oil. Each gets confirmed with a test.
  • Coolant loss. A pressure test finds external leaks. If the level keeps dropping with nothing visible, the EGR cooler and head gasket are next in line.

Behind those tests are Ford IDS for Ford trucks, WiTECH for Ram and other Stellantis trucks, a service advisor who spent 35 years as a Chevrolet dealership technician and a Ford specialist with more than 30 years at a Ford dealership. You receive a digital inspection with photos and notes, and the labor carries a 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. The full list of engines and systems we work on is on our diesel service and repair page.

Brookridge questions

How far is RDI Power's shop from Brookridge?
About 6.4 road miles and 13 minutes from central Brookridge to 1665 Donto Way, heading east on Cortez Boulevard (SR-50) past the Suncoast Parkway interchange.
My diesel will not start somewhere around Brookridge. What is the first step?
Call (352) 433-3800 and tell us where the truck is sitting and what it did before it quit. From that we can usually say whether a mobile technician, a tow to Donto Way or a careful drive in is the right call.
Is Brookridge close enough to drive a truck with a check engine light to your shop?
Usually, if the light is steady and the truck drives normally. A flashing light, overheating, low oil pressure or a strong derate means stop and call before making the 13-minute trip.
Do you offer a discount for veterans who live in Brookridge?
Yes. Active and veteran military, police and fire get 10 percent off at RDI Power, wherever they live.
