Lake Lindsey counted 90 residents in the 2020 Census, spread over about 0.23 square kilometers along the northeast shore of the lake that gives it its name. It is one of the smallest places we serve and one of the closest. RDI Power’s only shop, at 1665 Donto Way in Brooksville, is about 9 road miles and 17 minutes from the middle of Lake Lindsey, so diesel repair here comes down to a simple choice: drive the truck in, or have a technician come to it.
Chinsegut Hill, the lake and the forest edge
There is no town center in Lake Lindsey. The community is a few roads around a lake, about 6 miles north of Brooksville. Lake Lindsey Road (CR 476) curves around the water and passes between a church and a cemetery before it meets Snow Memorial Highway (CR 481). Nearby, Chinsegut Hill rises to 269 feet, one of the highest points in peninsular Florida, with a manor house begun in the early 1850s and listed on the National Register in 2003. The Chinsegut Nature Center is close by, and the southern edge of the Withlacoochee State Forest runs along CR 476.
The roads that matter for a diesel owner are the rural ones around it: CR 476 east and west, CR 481 north toward the Citrus County line, Snow Hill Road (the former CR 476A), US 98 (Ponce de Leon Boulevard) to the west and US 41 (Broad Street) to the southeast.
Mine entrances and farmland along CR 476 and CR 481
Head west on Lake Lindsey Road and the scenery changes from woods to industry. CR 476 runs past a sand mine and its entrances, crosses the CSX Brooksville Subdivision, then crosses a former rail spur to a mine east of US 98. A few miles farther west, Vulcan Materials lists its Brooksville Calcium aggregates facility at 14556 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. North of the lake, Snow Memorial Highway runs mostly through farmland all the way to the Citrus County line.
Trucks that live on mine entrances and farm lanes fail differently from highway trucks:
- Dust. Air filters load quickly, and radiators and charge air coolers pack with fine material until the engine runs hot on a climb.
- Short loaded runs. Brakes and the air system work hard, while exhaust temperatures stay too low for the diesel particulate filter to clean itself, so regens come closer together.
- Seasonal sitting. A farm truck parked between jobs comes back with weak batteries, aging fuel and sometimes water in the separator.
How a Lake Lindsey diesel gets diagnosed
If the truck drives normally with a steady warning light, bring it down CR 481 to Broad Street and on to Donto Way. If the light is flashing, the engine is derating, or the temperature or oil pressure gauge looks wrong, call (352) 433-3800 before you turn the key again.
At the shop, the code is only the first clue. Technicians use dealer-level software, Ford IDS on Power Stroke trucks and WiTECH on Ram, then test the suspect system directly: fuel pressure against what the computer commands, boost, cooling system pressure, regen history. You receive the digital inspection, with photos and notes, before anything is approved, and the labor carries RDI Power’s 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty. The engines are familiar ones: Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins, Caterpillar (we are Caterpillar certified), Detroit and Volvo, in pickups, dump trucks, tractors and buses. Our diesel service and repair page lays out the full range.
When the truck should stay at the Lake Lindsey farm or job site
A truck that will not start, or a unit you cannot spare from a job, does not have to make the trip. Mobile technicians bring scan tools and repair equipment to farms, job sites and the shoulder of CR 476 or CR 481; mobile diesel repair in Lake Lindsey explains what can be finished on site and what needs a bay. Fleet accounts on RDI Fleet also have 24/7 roadside assistance.
Neighbors between the lake and the city limits have their own page, North Brooksville diesel repair. For a Lake Lindsey truck, start with a call: describe the symptom, say where the truck is parked, and we will help you choose between the bay and the service truck.
