Hernando County is where RDI Power started and where the shop sits today. The work here is as varied as the county itself: limerock and cement haulers coming off Cobb Road, school buses and county equipment based in Brooksville, contractors working the growth around the Suncoast Parkway, diesel pickups commuting out of Spring Hill, and diesel pushers parked from Timber Pines to the coast.
A county built around a few working corridors
Most diesel traffic in Hernando County moves on a handful of roads. Through trucks bound for US-98 north get routed around downtown Brooksville on Cortez Boulevard (SR-50) and Cobb Road. US-41 carries north and south traffic through the county seat alongside the CSX line. US-19 runs the full length of the coast, and the Suncoast Parkway gives Spring Hill its own toll exits at Spring Hill Drive and SR-50. On the east side, I-75’s Exit 301 at Cortez Boulevard is the county’s only interstate interchange.
That geography shapes how we work. A truck that breaks down on the Parkway or on US-19 is usually better served by a mobile technician than a tow. A dump truck that needs an engine overhaul belongs in the Brooksville bays. We plan the job around where the truck is and what it needs.
Who runs diesel in Hernando County
- Aggregate and cement. The Cemex plant and quarry west of Brooksville and the sand and limerock operations to the north keep haul trucks and loaders on the road. These units live on heavy-duty repair, brakes and preventive maintenance.
- Public fleets. The school district, the county’s largest employer, runs its own bus transportation, and the county’s THE Bus runs a diesel transit fleet out of Brooksville. Bus repair and DOT inspections keep those schedules intact.
- The airport industrial park. The Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport campus hosts more than 100 businesses, many with service vans, box trucks and delivery fleets that fit an RDI Fleet plan.
- Homeowners and RV owners. Spring Hill, High Point, Brookridge and Timber Pines put a lot of diesel pickups and motorhomes in the county. Diesel pusher service and diesel pickup repair are a big part of what we do here.
In the shop or at your location
Inside the county, most customers bring the vehicle to Brooksville; the drive from Spring Hill is about 20 minutes. When that does not make sense, our technicians come to you with dealer-level diagnostics and file the same digital inspection report you would get in the shop. Fleet accounts get 24/7 roadside assistance.
