Heritage Pines is not a place people associate with diesel trucks, and we are not going to pretend it is. It is a gated, active 55+ community of 1,406 homes on the north edge of Hudson, built around a private golf course the residents own themselves. Still, if you keep a diesel pickup or van behind those gates, it needs the same care as one that works a job site, and when it develops a problem the question is where to take it. RDI Power’s answer is our shop at 1665 Donto Way in Brooksville, about 19 road miles from the middle of Heritage Pines, with mobile technicians for trucks stranded on the road.
Heritage Pines, a gated 55+ community on County Line Road
The community describes itself as active, gated and age-restricted, about 45 minutes north of Tampa International Airport, and Audubon International has named it a Neighborhood for Nature. A local Hudson guide calls it the largest Hudson neighborhood after Beacon Woods, divided into villages around a full country club clubhouse with a restaurant and a performing arts center. The clubhouse sits at 11524 Scenic Hills Boulevard, and the 18-hole course belongs to the community.
The Census draws Heritage Pines as a place of its own, but a small one: about 1.1 square miles, essentially a single homeowners association. Every address in it reads Hudson, FL 34667. The main gate opens onto County Line Road (CR 578), right on the Hernando line across from Spring Hill, and Pasco County Fire Rescue Station 39 is mapped inside the boundary.
From the Heritage Pines entrance to Donto Way
The measured route from the middle of the community heads west on County Line Road to US-19 (Commercial Way), north on US-19 to SR-50 (Cortez Boulevard), then east into Brooksville. Call it 19 road miles and about half an hour without heavy traffic. The other option is County Line Road east to the Suncoast Parkway at Exit 37 and the toll road north.
County Line Road itself is in for change. Hernando and Pasco own it jointly and have an interlocal agreement to widen it from 2 lanes to 4 toward the Suncoast Parkway. As of June 2026 the $65 million project was in design, with right-of-way funding due by July 2028 and construction funding by July 2030 from the 2 counties and FDOT. For now, nothing about the drive is different.
What a diesel owner in Heritage Pines should know
A diesel that rarely leaves a 1.1-square-mile neighborhood leads a different life from one that works all day. If your truck mostly makes short runs around the neighborhood, a few things deserve attention:
- Exhaust aftertreatment. Particulate filters clean themselves with heat, and short trips never generate enough of it. Frequent regens, rising fuel use and a warning on the dash are the early signs; our diesel truck repair page for Heritage Pines goes into the fixes.
- Batteries. A diesel pickup carries 2 batteries, and a truck that sits for a week at a time lets both drift down. A weak pair shows up as slow cranking on the first cool morning.
- Fluids and rubber. Oil, coolant, belts and hoses age by the calendar as well as the odometer, so a low-mileage truck still needs its service.
Towing changes the picture. A diesel that pulls a trailer or a camper works its cooling system, transmission and brakes hard, even on a short trip, and those systems deserve a look before a long haul.
How a Heritage Pines diesel visit works
It starts with a phone call to (352) 433-3800. From your description we will help decide whether the truck drives up US-19, rides a wrecker or waits for a technician on the road. In the shop, the first step is diagnosis, not parts: a scan with dealer-level software such as Ford IDS for Fords and WiTECH for Ram trucks, then direct tests of whatever the data points at. Before you approve anything, a digital vehicle inspection shows you the photos and the technician’s notes, and Heritage Pines work then carries RDI Power’s 3-year / 36,000-mile labor warranty.
Equipment is only half of it. Heritage Pines owners work with a service advisor whose 35 years as a technician were spent at a Chevrolet dealership, and our Ford specialist brings 30-plus years from a Ford dealer. RDI Power is Caterpillar certified, our technicians hold ASE certification, and we are a Bosch dealer using Alliant Power fuel injection parts where they fit. Fuel, air, exhaust, cooling and electrical work are all laid out on our diesel service and repair page.
Other Heritage Pines pages and the neighbors
If a truck has quit on County Line Road or US-19, our Heritage Pines mobile diesel repair page explains what a technician can do on the roadside and what to expect when the vehicle is parked inside the gates. Heavy truck and fleet pages for the community are listed alongside this one. The wider Hudson area has its own page as well: diesel repair in Hudson.
Call the shop with the symptom and the year, make and engine of your Heritage Pines diesel, and you will get a straight answer on the next step.
