Pinellas Park carries a heavier industrial mix than most of its neighbors. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics forms, fabricates and assembles aircraft components at a plant in the city. Marine businesses range from manufacturers to service and supply shops, and optical makers such as Transitions Optical are in the city or the surrounding Gateway area. St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, a Foreign Trade Zone with its own Airport Industrial Park, sits on the northeast edge. RDI Power has no shop in Pinellas Park, but our mobile technicians come here from Brooksville, to the yards, loading docks, job sites and roadsides where diesels stop.
Gateway Expressway or 118th Avenue: tell us which
The Gateway Expressway changed the map in 2024. The tolled SR 690 now runs elevated over 118th Avenue North, from US 19 in Pinellas Park east to I-275. A truck “on 118th” could be on the avenue at street level or on the toll road above it, and those are 2 very different calls.
If you are on the elevated lanes, say so first, along with your direction and the last ramp you passed. Limited-access lanes leave little room to work, so the first step may be getting the truck moved somewhere safe. If you are on 118th Avenue below, give the cross street or the business you are nearest, and pull into a lot if the truck still rolls.
Trucks on I-275 and US 19 near Pinellas Park
FDOT’s 2025 inventory counts about 13,182 trucks a day on I-275 near Pinellas Park, 7.8% of roughly 169,000 vehicles, the busiest truck road in this part of the county. Closer in, SR 688 carries about 6,780 trucks a day at a 14.9% share, US 19 about 6,497 and SR 694 about 6,063. Pinellas Park is served by an exit off I-275, along with US 19, SR 693 and SR 694.
On the interstate, the rules are simple and strict. Get the truck onto the shoulder as far as it will go, put out your triangles, and wait well away from the traffic side. Give us your direction and the nearest exit or mile marker. Our technicians reach this side of the county from Brooksville by the Suncoast Parkway, the Veterans Expressway and I-275, so an exit number is the fastest way to point them to you.
Airport Industrial Park and Gateway yards
Plenty of mobile work in Pinellas Park happens off the road entirely: in a yard, at a loading dock or behind a plant, where a truck that will not start or will not build air can hold up a shipment. Those are good places to work: firm pavement, room for the service truck, and a person on site who knows the unit.
A few things make a yard visit go smoothly:
- Access. The airport area includes secured and gated sites. Tell us who meets the technician and what the site requires.
- The keys and the history. Have the keys ready and someone who can say what the truck did before it failed.
- Room around the truck. Space to walk all the way around it and park the service truck beside it.
Once there, the technician scans the truck and proves the fault before replacing parts. Common on-site repairs include:
- No-starts from batteries, cables or starters, and charging faults from alternators or belts
- Air leaks, brake chambers and gladhand seals on tractors and trailers
- Fuel filters, water separators and air in the lines
- Sensor and wiring faults behind warning lights and derates
- Trailer lighting and plug repairs
The work is written up in a digital inspection report with photos and the technician’s notes. Our computer diagnostics page explains how the testing works.
Pinellas Park trucks that need a bay in Brooksville
Internal engine work, transmission rebuilds and anything that needs a lift are done in the Brooksville shop, and we will not pretend otherwise in a parking lot. When the diagnosis points that way, we plan the rest with you, including when the truck can come out of service and how it gets north, and the confirmed diagnosis goes with it so the shop starts on the repair.
