Gulfport is a city of 11,783 that borders St. Petersburg, South Pasadena and Boca Ciega Bay. Its police department runs a marine patrol covering the waterway and about 5 miles of coastline, and its municipal marina at 4630 29th Ave. S. has a 140-foot fuel dock and a public boat ramp with 70 spaces for trailer parking. We found no industrial base or freight terminal in the city. Diesel traffic here comes from boat-trailer tow rigs, the city’s own refuse trucks and vehicles passing through on the state roads. RDI Power has no shop in Gulfport; mobile technicians come to the truck from Brooksville.
Tow rigs at the Gulfport Municipal Marina ramp
A boat ramp is hard on a tow rig. The truck backs a loaded trailer down into the water, pulls it out wet and then sits while its owner is out on the bay. If your diesel pickup will not crank or throws a warning when you come back to the lot, a technician can often sort it out in the parking area:
- No-starts. Batteries run down by accessories or age, corroded cable ends and tired starters.
- Charging faults. Alternators and belts.
- Overheating on the pull out. Coolant leaks at hoses and clamps, and broken belts.
- Warning lights and derates. Sensors, wiring and DEF faults read and tested with a scan tool before any part is replaced.
The trailer gets attention too. Dunking a trailer in salt water is rough on lights, plugs and wiring, and on wheel bearings and brakes over time. On site, the technician can repair lighting circuits, corroded plugs and damaged harnesses, and inspect bearings, brakes and the hitch. Our hitches and trailer repair pages cover that side in more depth.
SR 693 and US 19 on Gulfport’s edges
FDOT’s 2025 traffic inventory counts about 2,236 trucks a day on SR 693 near Gulfport, between Park Street and Central Avenue, 8.6% of roughly 26,000 vehicles. US 19 carries about 2,003 trucks a day on its segment between 22nd Avenue South and 5th Avenue North, a 4.5% share.
Our technicians reach this corner of the county from the north, by the Suncoast Parkway, the Veterans Expressway and I-275. If the truck stops on SR 693 or US 19, give us the direction and the nearest avenue or cross street, and move it into a lot if it still rolls. Inside the city, the marina on 29th Avenue South and the waterfront along Boca Ciega Bay are easy reference points.
What a Gulfport curb repair looks like
The visit follows the same order every time. The technician talks with you about what the truck did, connects a scan tool to read codes and live data, and tests the suspect system to prove the fault. Only then does a part get replaced. You get a digital inspection afterward, with photos of what was found and notes on what was done, so you can see the evidence rather than take our word for it.
A safe spot matters as much as the tools. A paved lot with room to walk around the truck and park the service truck beside it is ideal. A soft shoulder near the water is not, and the technician will say so if a location is not safe to work.
Gulfport jobs headed to the Brooksville bays
Internal engine repairs, transmission rebuilds, alignments and anything that needs a lift are done in our Brooksville shop. When a Gulfport diagnosis points there, we work out the timing and the trip north with you, and the confirmed fault goes with the truck so the shop can start on the repair.
Describing a Gulfport breakdown over the phone
RDI Fleet accounts have 24/7 roadside assistance, so a fleet truck that stops on SR 693 at night is still a call to (352) 433-3800. Gulfport callers outside the fleet program can reach the shop weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Police officers, firefighters and military members, active or veteran, get 10% off, and that includes the officers who run Gulfport’s marine patrol when their own truck needs work.
Gulfport visits are part of the wider program on our mobile diesel repair page, and trucks working the interstate side of the county are covered on our St. Petersburg mobile diesel repair page.
