Mobile diesel mechanics and fleet maintenance in Manatee County

Manatee County moves port cargo, orange juice and winter vegetables over I-75, I-275 and US 41. RDI Power technicians come out from Brooksville to repair diesels at yards, farms, job sites and roadsides here.

Mobile diesel mechanics and fleet maintenance in Manatee County, RDI Power

Manatee County sits on the south shore of Tampa Bay, between the Skyway and Sarasota County, and its trucks haul a wide mix: petroleum and phosphate rock through SeaPort Manatee, juice from Bradenton, tomatoes and other winter vegetables from the fields, and construction loads for Lakewood Ranch, ranked the best-selling multigenerational master-planned community in the US since 2018. None of that work comes to a local RDI Power shop, because there is not one. Our technicians drive down from Brooksville, fix what can be fixed on the spot, and schedule the rest into the Brooksville bays.

I-75, I-275 and the US 41 port route through Manatee County

I-75 runs down the east side of the county. FDOT’s 2025 counts put about 20,000 trucks a day on it near Ellenton, where Exit 224 meets US 301, and Lakewood Ranch reaches it through 4 interchanges: SR 64, SR 70, University Parkway and Fruitville Road. I-275 begins at I-75 Exit 228 in rural Palmetto and heads north over the Sunshine Skyway to St. Petersburg, with a rest area and truck parking at the Skyway’s south end.

SeaPort Manatee routes its trucks over US 41 and says they can reach I-75 or I-275 in as little as 4 minutes, and the port keeps a 24-hour truck scale house available with advance notice. US 301 crosses Ellenton toward Palmetto, Bradenton and Parrish, and SR 70 runs 48 miles west from Arcadia to end in South Bradenton. Our pages on mobile diesel repair in Palmetto, mobile diesel repair in Ellenton and mobile diesel repair in South Bradenton cover breakdowns along these corridors.

SeaPort Manatee, juice and vegetables: Manatee County’s diesel work

SeaPort Manatee moved a record 11.86 million tons of cargo in fiscal 2025. More than 6.4 million tons was liquid bulk, with petroleum products and juices leading, and 3.44 million tons was dry bulk such as phosphate rock, granite and limestone; the port also handled 133,456 containers measured in TEUs. It has 207,000 square feet of refrigerated space, Fresh Del Monte has worked there since 1989, and the Florida International Gateway next door holds nearly 5,000 acres of mostly undeveloped land in Foreign-Trade Zone 169. A short-line railroad links the port to the CSX main line.

Bradenton has been Tropicana’s juice town since 1947. The juice plant remains in the city, juice trains have run north over CSX and its predecessors since 1971, and CSX keeps a Tropicana Yard in the area. Across the county, vegetable production is about a $290 million industry on roughly 30,000 acres, led by tomatoes, snap beans, watermelons, cucumbers and potatoes. Near Ellenton, Feld Entertainment’s headquarters campus includes dedicated parking for semis, show trailers and tour buses that carry touring productions such as Monster Jam. See fleet maintenance in Bradenton.

East of I-75, Lakewood Ranch covers more than 35,000 acres across Manatee and Sarasota counties. As of March 2026 it had 19 builders active and 2,645 businesses, including construction, warehousing and light manufacturing, and it sits on Schroeder-Manatee Ranch land with a history in cattle, citrus, turf and aggregate mining. Public fleets round out the picture: Manatee County Area Transit runs Gillig buses and trolleys on diesel and diesel-electric hybrid power from its Tallevast Road facility, the county landfill operates on Lena Road, and Bradenton runs its own commercial trash collection. Fleet maintenance in Lakewood Ranch and fleet maintenance in Bayshore Gardens cover the east and south ends of the county.

On-site work in Manatee County

On-site work in Manatee County can mean a terminal lot near the port, a farm during harvest, a subdivision site in Lakewood Ranch or the shoulder of I-75. Wherever it is, the technician wants pavement or packed ground the service truck can sit on, room to walk around the unit and the go-ahead from the people who run the site. For a location that fits none of those, describe it on the phone.

Nothing gets replaced on a guess. Dealer-level software comes out first, the stored codes and live readings point to a system, and a test confirms the bad part. With the cause in hand, the field fixes in Manatee are the familiar ones: a truck that will not crank, a charging system that will not keep up, a leaking air line or brake chamber, a weeping coolant hose, a clogged fuel filter or water in the tank, a trailer with dead brakes or lights, a sensor fault holding the engine back. An overhaul or a transmission rebuild is shop work, and we set the date for that move with you around your loads.

The record of each job is a digital inspection with photos and the technician’s notes. Work done beside your truck is backed by the same 3-year/36,000-mile labor warranty RDI Power gives in the bay. For the full description, see mobile diesel repair.

RDI Fleet plans for Manatee County operators

RDI Fleet matches maintenance to the miles and hours each Manatee unit actually puts in. Road tractors pulling port and produce loads on I-75 come due on the odometer. Dump trucks and mixers working Lakewood Ranch sites, and anything that idles at a terminal or in a field, come due on the hour meter. Trailers are checked on their own cycle for brakes, wheel bearings, lamps and tread. Each unit’s yearly DOT inspection is handled while it is already out of service for PM.

A fleet account gives your trucks priority and roadside help day or night, and it backs fleet repairs for 2 years or 24,000 miles. Every unit builds up its own photo history. The program is laid out on the fleet maintenance page; when you are ready, tell us what you run in Manatee County and how hard it works.

Questions we hear

Does RDI Power have a Bradenton or Palmetto location?
No. RDI Power has one shop, in Brooksville. Manatee County work is done on-site at yards, farms, job sites and roadsides, and a repair that needs a bay is planned into Brooksville with you.
Can a technician work on a truck near the SeaPort Manatee gates?
Outside the gates, yes, wherever the truck is parked safely. Inside the port, access is controlled by the port, so tell us where the truck is and what entry requires, and we will work out the visit from there.
Can RDI Fleet plan PM around Manatee County's winter vegetable season?
Yes. Visits are booked on the dates you choose, so trucks and trailers can be serviced and inspected before the busy weeks and kept out of the shop schedule while the harvest runs.
