With 19 builders still active and 49,132 residential units entitled as of March 2026, Lakewood Ranch is a construction zone with a community wrapped around it. The 35,000-plus-acre master-planned development spans Manatee and Sarasota counties east of I-75, and dump trucks, concrete mixers and site equipment are part of its daily traffic. RDI Power has no shop in Lakewood Ranch. When one of those trucks stops, the repair comes to the site.
Lakewood Ranch and its 4 I-75 interchanges
Lakewood Ranch reaches I-75 at 4 interchanges: SR 64, SR 70, University Parkway and Fruitville Road. Naming the closest one is the fastest way to tell a technician where a truck is. FDOT’s 2025 inventory puts about 19,176 trucks a day on I-75 near the community, 13.6% of roughly 141,000 vehicles. SR 70 carries about 4,694 trucks a day and SR 64 about 2,558, but trucks make up 16.5% of the traffic on SR 64, the highest share of the 3.
On the interstate, give the direction, the last interchange you passed and the nearest mile marker. Inside the community, a builder’s site name, a business park entrance or the nearest town center helps the technician find the right gate.
Dump trucks and mixers on Lakewood Ranch job sites
A truck that stops in the middle of a pour or a haul cycle holds up more than itself. Mobile service lets a technician diagnose it on the site and, where the job allows, fix it there. On construction trucks, the usual on-site work covers:
- Air leaks, brake chambers and slack adjusters on air-braked dump trucks and mixers
- Batteries, starters, alternators and cables
- Belts, coolant hoses and leaks at accessible fittings
- Air filter restriction and intake leaks, a real concern in site dust
- Fuel filters, water separators and air in the fuel system
- Sensor, wiring and connector faults behind a derate
- DEF and aftertreatment faults, including a parked regeneration where the system allows one
Ground conditions decide a lot. A site after a summer storm can be soft enough to bog down a service truck, so if the stopped truck can be moved to a pad or a haul road, do it. If not, tell us where the nearest firm ground is. Our construction page covers the trucks we see on job sites in more depth.
Business park box trucks and tractors in Lakewood Ranch
Construction is only part of the picture. Lakewood Ranch holds 6.6 million square feet of non-residential development across 20 commercial centers, including 5 business parks, and 2,645 businesses there employ more than 22,246 people in fields that include warehousing and light manufacturing. That adds box trucks, delivery vans and tractor-trailers to the mix.
A business park is usually an easy place to work: paved, level and away from traffic. Tell us the park, the building and whether the truck is at a dock or in the lot, and have someone available who can open a gate if needed.
Pickups get dealer-level diagnosis on Lakewood Ranch sites
Crew pickups get the same attention as the heavy trucks. Our technicians carry Ford IDS and WiTECH, so a Power Stroke or a Cummins-powered Ram is diagnosed with dealer-level software right beside it, and the team behind them includes a Ford specialist with more than 30 years at a Ford dealership. A pickup that will not crank, one stuck in a derate or one leaking coolant is frequently a same-visit repair. Every job, pickup or mixer, is written up in a digital vehicle inspection with photos and technician notes.
Lakewood Ranch trucks that finish in our bays
Some repairs should not be done in the dirt. Internal engine work, transmission removal and rebuilds, and anything that needs a lift or heavy tooling happen in the Brooksville shop. When the diagnosis points that way, we plan the move with you so the truck comes off the job on a day that costs the least, and the findings from the site visit go with it. Labor on site and in the shop is warrantied the same way: 3 years / 36,000 miles, or 2 years / 24,000 miles for RDI Fleet accounts.
Calling RDI about a Lakewood Ranch breakdown
Call (352) 433-3800 with the location, the truck’s make and engine, what it was doing when it stopped and whether it is loaded. Contractors on an RDI Fleet account have roadside assistance 24/7; everyone else can reach us Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We will give you a straight answer on when a technician can get there instead of a promise we cannot keep.
How on-site service works across our whole area is explained on the mobile diesel repair page. For the interchange at the community’s southern edge, see Fruitville mobile diesel repair, and builders who want their trucks on a schedule can read about fleet maintenance in Lakewood Ranch.
