Lakewood Ranch’s build-out is a long project. In March 2026 the community was about 70% sold or leased against 49,132 entitled units, with 19 builders still at work, and the remaining construction keeps heavy trucks on its roads every weekday. A fleet working a multiyear job like that needs maintenance that keeps pace. RDI Fleet, RDI Power’s fleet program, builds the plan around how your trucks actually work. There is no RDI location in Lakewood Ranch; scheduled visits bring our technicians down from Brooksville to your yard or your site.
Build-out fleets and business parks in Lakewood Ranch
The land under Lakewood Ranch is part of Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, a working ranch with a history in cattle, citrus, turf farming and aggregate mining. Today the 35,000-plus acres hold 2,645 businesses employing more than 22,246 people, in fields that include construction, warehousing and light manufacturing, spread across 20 commercial centers and 5 business parks. Community-wide infrastructure is planned, built, operated and maintained by the Lakewood Ranch Stewardship District and 5 community development districts across 23,055 acres, a different arrangement from a city public works department.
The result is a fleet mix that runs from mixers and dump trucks to box trucks, tractor-trailers and crew pickups. RDI Fleet covers all of it, light, medium and heavy duty, with trailers and buses included.
Engine hours for Lakewood Ranch mixers and dump trucks
A mixer can turn its drum for hours at a pour while the truck itself sits still, and a dump truck may spend a good part of its day idling in a loading line. The odometer says almost nothing about how hard those engines worked. On a Lakewood Ranch plan, construction trucks are serviced on engine hours, with PTO time counted, and the hour meter is logged at every visit.
The rest of the PM is shaped by the site. Air filters and intake plumbing get extra attention in dust. Brakes, suspension and steering components are checked for the punishment of loaded travel on unpaved haul roads. Trucks that seldom see sustained highway load have their DPF regeneration history and soot codes reviewed, since short, slow work makes it harder for the filter to clean itself. A scan for stored and pending codes rounds out each visit.
Box trucks and tractors from Lakewood Ranch business parks
Warehousing and light manufacturing fleets look more like conventional route and highway work. Box trucks on local delivery get severe-service intervals and frequent brake checks. Tractors that leave the business parks for I-75 build miles quickly and are usually serviced on mileage, with intervals tuned to what the inspections show. Trailers get their own schedule for brakes, bearings, tires, lights and air connections, timed to the tractor’s visit when they run together.
PM on the job site or at a Lakewood Ranch yard
Service happens where the trucks are. On visit days set in advance, a technician arrives from Brooksville and works through a group of units, whether they sit in a contractor’s yard, a business park lot or on firm ground at an active site. Between visits, a fleet account gets priority when a unit fails unexpectedly. An engine or transmission job that needs a lift is scheduled into the Brooksville bays at a point in the project when the truck can be spared, and we work out that timing together.
Getting started takes a list of the trucks, each with its VIN, engine, current hour meter or odometer reading and the job it does, plus the sites and yards where they spend their time. If a builder’s fleet moves from one Lakewood Ranch phase to the next, tell us; the visit schedule follows the trucks, not a fixed address.
Our construction page describes the vocational trucks we see most on job sites.
DOT inspections for Lakewood Ranch dump trucks and tractors
Federal rules require an annual inspection for commercial vehicles with a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more operating interstate, with the inspection report kept for 14 months. On a Lakewood Ranch plan, each qualifying dump truck, tractor and trailer has its annual booked into the same visit as its PM. The driver’s pre-trip inspection still happens every day.
Records, warranty and roadside for Lakewood Ranch fleets
Every visit ends with a digital inspection per unit, with photos and technician notes. Over the life of a project, those records show which trucks are wearing out and which are holding up, which helps when it is time to bid the next job or replace a unit. Repairs on a Lakewood Ranch fleet account are warrantied for 2 years or 24,000 miles, and a fleet truck that quits on SR 64 after dark is covered by around-the-clock roadside assistance through (352) 433-3800.
See RDI Fleet maintenance for the program as a whole. A truck already stopped on a site is a job for Lakewood Ranch mobile diesel repair, and fleets based around the Fruitville Road interchange have their own page for fleet maintenance in Fruitville.
