Lake County sits where the Turnpike, US 27 and I-4 come together west of Orlando, and it is growing fast on both sides of them. The county’s largest industrial park is in Groveland, its only freight railroad runs through Tavares and Eustis, and new subdivisions and commerce sites keep spreading south of Clermont. RDI Power has no shop in Lake County. Our technicians come out from Brooksville to fix trucks where they work, and plan the bigger jobs into Brooksville with you.
Four Turnpike exits and US 27 through Lake County
Florida’s Turnpike has 4 Lake County interchanges: Hancock Road (Exit 278), US 27 and SR 19 (Exit 285), southbound US 27 (Exit 289) and County Road 470 (Exit 296). FDOT’s 2025 counts put about 16,100 trucks a day on the Turnpike near Minneola, nearly a fifth of all traffic. North of the CR 470 exit, the Okahumpka Service Plaza at milepost 299 sells diesel around the clock but prohibits overnight parking because space is tight.
US 27 is the main local road through western Lake County, running from Four Corners north to The Villages, and it crosses I-4 at Exit 55 on the Four Corners end, where FDOT counts about 17,500 trucks a day on the interstate. SR 19 meets the Turnpike outside Groveland, with trucks making up nearly a quarter of its traffic there, and SR 50 through Clermont carries about 8,300 trucks a day. On the north side, US 441 and SR 44 link Leesburg, Eustis and Mount Dora. Our pages on mobile diesel repair in Okahumpka, mobile diesel repair in Minneola and mobile diesel repair in Four Corners cover breakdowns along those roads.
Commerce parks, tree farms and a short-line railroad in Lake County
Lake County calls the Christopher C. Ford Commerce Park in Groveland, at the US 27, SR 19 and Turnpike crossroads, its largest existing industrial park. Tenants include a trucking company, beverage bottling and food distribution, and a Kroger robotic fulfillment center and an Amazon last-mile station opened there in 2021. Nearby, Cherrylake has 1,800 acres of trees, shrubs and palms in production and works with outside trucking vendors. See fleet maintenance in Groveland.
The Florida Central Railroad is the only surviving rail line through the county. Tavares, the county seat, is its main hub, with branches to Umatilla and Sorrento and 8 transload facilities in its network. Tavares is also the listed home of LakeXpress, the county bus system, which runs on diesel, and of Lake Technical College’s 1,050-hour Diesel Systems Technician program. Fleet maintenance in Tavares covers the county seat.
Utilities add their own trucks. Leesburg runs a city electric system dating to 1924 that serves more than 27,500 customers, plus a natural gas utility with 276 miles of pipeline, and its airport hosts aircraft float, fastener and aerial firefighting businesses. Fleet maintenance in Leesburg covers that city’s mix.
Growth is the other story. Clermont, now the county’s most populous city, grew more than 250 percent from 2000 to 2020. The Wellness Way corridor spans over 16,000 acres between I-4, the Turnpike and US 27, planned for upward of 15,500 housing units, and the Minneola interchange area is entitled for 1.4 million square feet of industrial space. On the public side, Clermont keeps its own fleet maintenance department and runs its own sanitation collection. Fleet maintenance in Clermont looks at the south county build-out.
On-site service in Lake County, from Brooksville
A Lake County visit might be a dock in the Groveland commerce park, a growing field at a tree farm, a subdivision site off US 27 or the shoulder of SR 50. The technician needs firm, level ground beside the truck and permission from whoever controls the site. Soft sand at a farm or new job site is worth mentioning when you call.
The technician connects dealer-level software to the truck, reads the fault codes and live data, and tests the suspect part or circuit before anything gets replaced. No-starts, charging problems, air leaks, brake chambers, cooling leaks, fuel filters and water in the fuel, and wiring or sensor faults are all routine field repairs. A transmission rebuild or an engine overhaul needs the Brooksville bays; the technician explains why, and we plan how and when the truck gets there.
Each visit comes with a digital inspection, photos included, and on-site labor carries the same 3-year/36,000-mile RDI Power warranty as shop work. Read more on the mobile diesel repair page.
RDI Fleet plans for Lake County operators
An RDI Fleet plan fits the mix Lake County runs. Tractors on the Turnpike are scheduled by miles. Dump trucks and concrete trucks on Wellness Way sites, utility line trucks and landscape haulers that run equipment at a stop are scheduled by engine hours. Trailers get their own brake, bearing and light checks. Annual DOT inspections ride along with PM so each unit comes out of service once.
Fleet accounts get priority scheduling, 24/7 roadside help and a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty on fleet repairs, and every finding is filed with photos by unit. Start with the fleet maintenance page, then call with a rough list of the trucks you keep in Lake County.
