Groveland grew from 18,505 residents in 2020 to an estimated 24,602 in 2024, but its truck traffic is set by what surrounds the city: the Turnpike, US 27, and a commerce park at their crossroads that Lake County calls its largest existing industrial park. When a diesel quits on those roads, or at a yard or farm nearby, RDI Power’s mobile technicians come to it from our shop in Brooksville. We have no location in Groveland. What we bring is the scan equipment, parts and tools to find the fault and, when the job allows, fix it on the spot.
SR 19 at Groveland, where nearly 1 vehicle in 4 is a truck
FDOT’s 2025 inventory counts about 2,950 trucks a day on SR 19 near Groveland, 23.8 percent of all traffic, a higher truck share than the Turnpike’s. SR 19 starts at SR 50 in Groveland and runs north through Tavares and Eustis; on the city’s outskirts it also reaches Florida’s Turnpike. SR 33 and SR 50 meet it in town, and SR 50 runs through Groveland’s Community Redevelopment Area, which covers more than 1,500 acres along the highway.
On SR 19 or SR 50, the nearest cross street or business is the best location detail you can give. If the truck is loaded, say so, along with what it is hauling; a loaded flatbed or a full trailer changes how the technician approaches a brake or tire problem.
Breakdowns near the Turnpike’s Exit 285 crossroads
The Turnpike’s US 27 and SR 19 interchange, Exit 285, is the crossroads where Lake County markets the Christopher C. Ford Commerce Park. Its tenants include Carroll Fulmer Trucking, Dunkin’ Donuts Distribution, Niagara Water Bottling and Domino’s Distribution, and a Kroger robotic customer fulfillment center and an Amazon last-mile delivery station opened there in 2021. FDOT counts about 11,600 trucks a day on the Turnpike near Groveland and about 4,400 on US 27, where trucks make up 16 percent of traffic.
A tractor stopped on the Turnpike needs a mile marker and a direction. One stopped on US 27 or SR 19 near the interchange needs the nearest cross street or business. If the truck made it into a lot or up to a dock, tell us that too, because a paved lot is a far better place to work than a shoulder.
Job sites count too. Construction began in 2026 on Groveland’s $25 million Villa City Water Treatment Plant, due by mid-2028, and any truck that fails on a site like that can be repaired where it stands when there is firm ground and room to work.
Nursery and farm trucks on Groveland’s back roads
Groveland is nursery country as well. Cherrylake, on Cherry Lake Road, grows palms, trees and shrubs on 1,800 acres in production, including 550 acres of palms, with 4 satellite farms and 5 greenhouses, and it works with outside trucking vendors to move its stock. Farms are one of the places mobile service fits best. A truck that will not start in a field, or a loaded flatbed with an air leak on a farm road, is a long way from any shop, and a tow off soft ground is slow.
A technician can drive onto the property, diagnose the problem and often finish the repair there. What helps: a gate code or someone to meet the service truck, directions to the exact field or block, and firm ground next to the truck. Our agriculture page describes how we support farm operations.
What a technician can fix at a Groveland yard
Plenty of breakdowns end without a tow. Batteries and a starter on a truck that will not crank. An alternator or a thrown belt. A split coolant hose. An air line rubbed through where it crosses the frame. A fuel filter plugged by a bad load of fuel, or air in the system after a filter change. A NOx or exhaust temperature sensor that has dropped the engine into derate. All of these are service-truck repairs.
Before anything is replaced, the technician confirms the cause with a scan and testing; dealer-level tools such as Ford IDS and WiTECH cover Power Stroke and Ram pickups, and heavy duty software covers the tractors. The visit is written up as a digital inspection, photos and notes included, so whoever pays the bill sees the failed part.
Groveland repairs that need a lift
Not everything that fails near the Exit 285 crossroads can be fixed beside the truck. Internal engine work, a transmission rebuild or an alignment needs a bay, and so does any repair where the truck has to be lifted. In those cases we arrange the tow and choose a time with you, and the Brooksville shop works from the Groveland diagnosis rather than starting over.
Calls go to (352) 433-3800 on weekdays, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and RDI Fleet customers can ask for roadside help at any hour. A group of trucks based in Groveland is better served by a schedule; fleet maintenance in Groveland explains how that works.
