Mobile diesel mechanics and fleet maintenance in Orange County

Orange County runs on one interstate, a ring of toll roads and an airport that handled more than 200,000 tons of airfreight in 2025. RDI Power technicians come out from Brooksville to repair diesels at yards, job sites and roadsides across the county.

Mobile diesel mechanics and fleet maintenance in Orange County, RDI Power

Orlando is the largest metro area in the country served by a single interstate, so freight in Orange County leans on I-4 plus a ring of toll roads: Florida’s Turnpike, SR 408, SR 417, SR 429 and the Beachline. RDI Power does not have a shop in the county. Technicians drive out from our Brooksville shop with diagnostic software and on-site repair equipment, work on the truck where it stopped or where it parks, and plan any heavy bay work into Brooksville with you.

The Turnpike, I-4 and the Orange County toll ring

MetroPlan Orlando calls the Turnpike the region’s leading freight corridor, at more than 30 million tons a year, with I-4 and SR 408 each above 15 million tons (2022 data). FDOT’s 2025 counts put about 35,800 trucks a day on the Turnpike near Ocoee, nearly 20 percent of all traffic there, and roughly 24,000 a day on the western Beachline toward the airport. In Ocoee, the Turnpike, SR 408 and SR 429 meet at a 4-level tolled interchange, and since January 2024 the Wekiva Parkway has carried SR 429 all the way to I-4 in Sanford, closing the beltway.

Truck parking is worth knowing. The Turnpike’s Turkey Lake Service Plaza offers 24 public truck spaces, and the Zellwood Truck Stop on US 441 lists 24 spaces with CAT certified scales. When a truck quits on a toll road, the details that help most are the road name, direction of travel and the last interchange or mile post. Our pages on mobile diesel repair in Ocoee and mobile diesel repair in Zellwood cover the west and north ends of that network, and mobile diesel repair in Orlando covers the airport and Beachline side.

Airport cargo, nurseries and short-line rail in Orange County

Orlando International covers 11,605 acres and handled 222,705 tons of airfreight in 2025, and the aviation authority’s plan adopted in October 2025 calls for at least 1 new cargo processing facility. Warehousing spreads across the south side of the county as well: Wikipedia lists Whirlpool, Sealy and Siemens warehouses in Meadow Woods, and the Orlando Central Park industrial district shares a ZIP code with Oak Ridge. On the west side, an industrial strip on Silver Star Road beside Pine Hills holds Frito-Lay and Coca-Cola manufacturing and distribution sites, and MetroPlan names that subarea a freight land-use concentration. Read more on mobile diesel repair in Meadow Woods and fleet maintenance in Pine Hills.

Apopka calls itself the Indoor Foliage Capital of the World for its greenhouse nurseries, and the Florida Central Railroad, based at the Plymouth freight station, still serves industries in Apopka, Ocoee, Winter Garden and Zellwood. In east Orange County, OUC’s Stanton Energy Center sits on 3,280 acres, and the Orange County Landfill on Young Pine Road opens to account haulers at 4:00 AM on weekdays while a 60-acre liner project runs through October 2028. See fleet maintenance in Apopka and fleet maintenance in Alafaya.

Construction keeps going too. Orange County calls Horizon West the fastest growing community in its unincorporated area, and Lake Nona inside Orlando grew past 50,000 residents by 2015. Public fleets add volume: Orange County Public Schools ran 1,020 school buses as of February 2025, and the City of Orlando runs its own commercial dumpster and roll-off service. The Horizon West fleet maintenance page covers the build-out side of the county.

What an on-site visit looks like in Orange County

The call tells us where to go and what to bring. On a toll road shoulder, the technician first decides whether the spot is safe to work; if it is not, we talk through moving the truck to an interchange or a lot. At a distribution dock, a landfill account yard or a nursery, we need permission from whoever runs the property and a firm, level patch of ground beside the truck.

Diagnosis comes before parts. The technician connects with Ford IDS on Power Stroke pickups, WiTECH on Ram trucks or heavy duty software on Class 8 tractors, reads codes and live data, and tests the circuit or component they point to. Many repairs finish right there: batteries, starters and alternators, belts and coolant hoses, air leaks and brake chambers, fuel filters and water separators, trailer lights and wiring. When the finding is internal engine damage or a transmission that has to come out, we explain why and plan the trip to Brooksville around your schedule.

Orange County sits well out from Brooksville, so we do not quote arrival times. For a breakdown we give a straight answer on when a technician can be there, and for fleets, scheduled yard visits are the dependable way to keep trucks earning. Every visit is written up as a digital inspection with photos, and mobile labor is covered by the same 3-year/36,000-mile warranty as work in our bays. The mobile diesel repair page explains on-site service in full.

Building an RDI Fleet plan for an Orange County operation

RDI Fleet starts with an inventory taken at your yard: each unit’s year, engine, mileage or hours, condition and open problems. From there, intervals follow the work. A tractor running Turnpike linehaul piles up miles. A roll-off truck hauling debris to the Young Pine Road landfill spends its day loading and dumping, so hours and PTO time tell more than the odometer and its PM is set on hours. Pickups and vans follow the manufacturer’s schedule, adjusted for idle time and towing.

Fleet accounts get priority service, 24/7 roadside help and a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty on fleet repairs, and every visit adds to a photo record by unit. Annual DOT inspections ride along with PM. If your trucks park in Orange County, tell us how many you run and how they work, and we will show you what a plan looks like on the fleet maintenance side.

Questions we hear

Will RDI Power come to a truck stopped on the Turnpike or SR 408 in Orange County?
Yes. During shop hours, Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, anyone can call, and RDI Fleet accounts have roadside help 24/7. Have the road, direction and nearest interchange or mile post ready, and stay well away from the travel lanes.
Is there an RDI Power location in Orlando or elsewhere in Orange County?
No. The only RDI Power shop is in Brooksville. Technicians come to Orange County yards, job sites and roadside locations, and work that needs a bay, such as a transmission rebuild, is planned into Brooksville with you.
Can a technician service trucks at an Apopka nursery or a Meadow Woods warehouse yard?
Yes, with the property owner's permission and firm, level ground beside the truck. If the truck sits on an unpaved nursery road, mention it when you call so the service truck can park on solid footing.
How are RDI Fleet visits scheduled for Orange County yards?
Ahead of time, around the hours your trucks are parked. Several units can be serviced on a single visit, with annual DOT inspections done alongside PM so each truck comes out of service once.
