Union Park is a 3.0 square mile community southwest of the University of Central Florida, bounded by North Dean Road, the Econlockhatchee River, J Blanchard Trail, Rouse Road and Bloomfield Drive. It is mostly homes and schools, but 2 toll roads meet on its edge: SR-408 and SR-417 cross at Exit 18, a cloverstack interchange on the Union Park and Alafaya line, and the Dean Road mainline toll plaza sits at Exit 19. When a diesel quits on those roads or along SR 50, RDI Power’s mobile service brings a technician to it from Brooksville.
Breakdowns around Exit 18 and the Dean Road toll plaza
FDOT counts about 6,901 trucks a day on SR-408 near Union Park and about 4,796 on SR-417. A cloverstack has a lot of ramps, so when you call from Exit 18, tell us which road you came from, which way you were headed and which ramp the truck is on. Near the toll plaza at Exit 19, say whether the truck is before or past the plaza and in which lane it stopped.
Toll roads move fast. If the truck is still rolling and safe to steer, get it as far right as you can. Then put on the hazards, set out triangles and stand well away from the truck, behind the barrier if there is one.
SR 50 through Union Park
SR 50 was widened to 6 lanes from SR 436 to Dean Road, and it meets SR-417 at Exit 34 before reaching Alafaya Trail. FDOT counts about 2,525 trucks a day on it near Union Park. On this road, a cross street or a business sign is the best locator.
Union Park packs Union Park and Lawton Chiles elementary schools, Union Park Middle, University High School and a charter school into its 3 square miles. Those campuses make good landmarks for a call. If a truck stops in or near a school zone, tell us, so the technician can plan the safest way to work around it.
What the technician brings to Union Park
Technicians come out with dealer-level diagnostic software, including Ford IDS for Power Stroke trucks and WiTECH for Ram, heavy-duty scan tools for the bigger engines, and the equipment to repair on site. The visit starts with codes, live data and tests. Then the routine fixes get done: batteries, cables and starters on a no-start, alternators and belts on a truck that stopped charging, hoses and fittings on a coolant leak, fuel filters and bleeding on a fuel problem, and sensors and wiring behind a derate. Air leaks and brake chambers on heavy trucks are regular roadside work too.
Power loss, smoke and derates near Union Park
Some of the trickier roadside calls are trucks that run but will not pull: a derate, a turbo that has stopped making boost, or an injector problem that shows up as rough running and smoke. On site, a technician can read the codes and live data, check for boost leaks at hoses and clamps, and tell you whether the fix is a sensor, a connection or something that needs the engine opened up. RDI is a Bosch dealer and works with Alliant Power fuel injection, so when injection work turns out to be the answer, it gets done with the right parts. Our turbos and superchargers page covers the boost side.
Larger jobs: from Union Park to the Brooksville bays
Internal engine repairs, transmission rebuilds and anything that needs a lift are done in our shop in Brooksville. When the diagnosis points there, the technician shows you the failure, and we plan the move and the timing with you. The truck arrives with its diagnosis on file, so nobody starts over.
Paperwork and coverage for Union Park calls
Every Union Park visit is recorded in a digital vehicle inspection, with photos of what was found and notes on what was done. On-site labor comes with RDI Power’s 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. Fleet accounts can call for roadside help 24/7; other customers can call during weekday shop hours, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We never promise an arrival time; we tell you straight when a technician can get to the toll roads or SR 50.
For planned maintenance, see fleet maintenance in Union Park. On-site service as a whole is explained on the mobile diesel repair page. Neighbors have their own pages too: mobile diesel repair in Alafaya to the southeast and mobile diesel repair in University to the northeast.
