Goldenrod is small, 2.7 square miles and 13,431 people in 2020, and it does not sit inside a single county. The CDP straddles the Orange and Seminole line. It also gives its name to a key north to south route on Orlando’s east side: Goldenrod Road (SR-551), which starts at Aloma Avenue (SR-426) in Goldenrod and runs south to Cargo Road at Orlando International. When a diesel stops on that road, on Aloma or Semoran, or on the expressway to the east, RDI Power’s mobile service brings a technician to it from our Brooksville shop.
Goldenrod Road from Aloma Avenue to Cargo Road
Goldenrod Road works as a surface bypass along the east side of Orlando. Heading south from Goldenrod, it crosses Colonial Drive (SR-50), meets the East-West Expressway at Exit 16 in Azalea Park, and reaches the airport through an extension that is tolled between the Beachline and Hazeltine National Drive. For a breakdown anywhere along it, the cross street is the best locator, and on the tolled section, the direction and the nearest interchange.
Trucks on the Seminole Expressway near Goldenrod
FDOT’s 2025 inventory counts about 16,140 trucks a day on the Seminole Expressway segment of SR-417 near Goldenrod, 20.1% of the traffic, so 1 vehicle in 5 on that road is a truck. A heavy truck stopped on that shoulder is exposed. Before you call, pull as far right as possible, turn on the hazards, set out triangles and walk well away from the truck. Then give us the direction, the nearest exit or mile marker and what the truck did before it stopped. If a red warning came on, stop where it is safe rather than trying to make the next exit.
Aloma Avenue and Semoran Boulevard calls in Goldenrod
Aloma Avenue (SR-426) is signed for Winter Park and Goldenrod where it meets Semoran Boulevard (SR-436). FDOT counts about 3,443 trucks a day on the busiest nearby segment of Aloma, 8.5% of traffic, and around 2,893 on Semoran. On these roads, an intersection or a business sign gets a technician to the right spot fastest. Tell us which side of the road the truck is on and whether it is blocking a lane.
Calling in a Goldenrod breakdown
The county line does not change anything on our end, but a precise location does. Give the road, the nearest cross street and which way you were headed. Then describe the truck: year, make and engine, the unit number if it has one, and what it did before it stopped. On a heavy truck, say whether the air pressure dropped. If codes are showing, read them off. The technician uses all of it to decide which parts to load before leaving Brooksville, which is how a long trip ends in a finished repair instead of a second visit.
Fixing a Goldenrod truck at the curb, or planning the Brooksville trip
Every visit starts with a diagnosis. Technicians bring Ford IDS for Power Stroke trucks, WiTECH for Ram and heavy-duty scan software for Cummins, Detroit, Caterpillar and Volvo engines, and they confirm the failure with tests before replacing a part. A truck that will not crank, will not charge, has lost a belt, is leaking coolant at a hose, is starving for fuel or is stuck in a sensor-driven derate is often back on the road the same visit.
Some repairs do not belong at the curb. Internal engine work, transmission rebuilds and anything that needs a lift are done in our Brooksville bays. When that is the answer, we show you the failure and plan the trip with you, and the shop starts from the diagnosis rather than from scratch.
