Maitland is where 3 major roads meet. I-4, which MetroPlan Orlando lists among the region’s busiest truck roads at more than 15,000 trucks a day, passes Maitland Center. Maitland Boulevard (SR-414) crosses it at Exit 90 and ends at US 17-92 (Orlando Avenue). FDOT’s 2025 counts show about 11,325 trucks a day on I-4 between the county line and SR-436, 5,280 on SR-414 and 4,382 on US 17-92. RDI Power’s mobile service exists for the moment one of those trucks stops moving: a technician comes out from our Brooksville shop and works on it where it is.
Exit 90, Maitland Boulevard and US 17-92: pinpointing the truck
Precise directions save time around Maitland’s interchanges:
- I-4 at Exit 90. A cloverstack interchange with Maitland Boulevard. Say whether you are on the mainline or a ramp, and which direction.
- Maitland Boulevard. It ends at a trumpet interchange with US 17-92. Name the nearest cross street or business.
- US 17-92 (Orlando Avenue). The SunRail station on this road is an easy landmark to give.
- Maitland Center. The 226-acre office park beside I-4, home to more than 400 businesses, works as a reference point for any stop nearby.
Trucks off the designated route in Maitland
MetroPlan Orlando has flagged a specific problem here: unclear truck route signage that sends trucks onto roads not designated for them, with Maitland named alongside Kissimmee. A truck that stops on a narrow local street is a different job from one on a wide shoulder. When you call, tell us how much space there is on each side of the truck, whether it is blocking a lane and what is overhead. The technician decides whether the spot is safe to work. If it is not, we talk through moving the truck somewhere that is before any repair starts.
A safer place to wait east of Maitland
If the truck is still safe to drive, with no red warning lamp, no low air alarm and no temperature climbing toward the red, the shoulder may not be the best place to stop. FDOT lists an eastbound rest area in Seminole County, 2.5 miles east of the SR-434 exit (Exit 94), with truck parking. A technician can work there with far less traffic going by. Never push a truck that is showing a red warning, though. Pull over where it is safe, set out triangles and call.
What a Maitland visit can fix on site
The technician starts with a scan and live data, then tests before replacing anything. Common on-site repairs include:
- No-starts from batteries, cables, starters or a failed ground
- Charging problems from alternators and belts
- Coolant leaks at hoses and reachable fittings
- Fuel filters and air in the fuel system
- Sensor, wiring and connector faults behind a derate; see our page on computer diagnostics
- Air leaks and brake chamber problems on air-brake trucks
Seeing the problem before you approve a Maitland repair
The person paying for a roadside repair is often somewhere else: at an office in Maitland Center, at a yard across town or on another job. That is why every finding is photographed and written up in a digital vehicle inspection. You see exactly what the technician found, photo by photo, with notes on what each item needs, and the decision to go ahead is yours. The same record stays on file afterward, which helps when the same truck needs attention again.
Maitland calls cover light, medium and heavy duty diesels alike: Power Stroke, Duramax and Cummins pickups, Sprinter vans, box trucks, buses and Class 8 tractors with Cummins, Detroit, Caterpillar or Volvo power. RDI does not repair gasoline cars, so if the vehicle runs on gas, we will say so up front.
When Maitland repairs need our Brooksville bays
Major engine work, transmission rebuilds and jobs that need a lift are done in the shop. The technician explains the failure, we agree on when and how the truck reaches Brooksville, and the diagnosis rides along so the shop does not start from zero.
Round-the-clock roadside coverage comes with an RDI Fleet account. Anyone else can call (352) 433-3800 weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and we will tell you plainly when a technician can be in Maitland. On-site labor carries the same 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty as a repair done in our bays.
