Forest City is an unincorporated community of 14,623 people on the western edge of Seminole County, and its old center now sits inside the City of Altamonte Springs. What puts it on a diesel technician’s map is traffic. SR 434, SR 436, US 441 and the SR 414 toll expressway all run through or beside it, and FDOT counts thousands of trucks a day on them. When one of those trucks stops, RDI Power sends a technician from our Brooksville shop with diagnostic tools and parts to repair it where it sits.
SR 434 and the Forest City Road county line
SR 434 carries the Forest City Road name through Orange County and drops it at the Seminole County line, then continues north and east through Altamonte Springs and Longwood. That name change trips up a lot of location descriptions. If the truck is stopped on SR 434, tell us which side of the county line it is on, the nearest cross street and the direction it was heading. FDOT’s 2025 inventory counts about 2,314 trucks a day on the busiest SR 434 segment near Forest City.
SR 436 and US 441 on the Apopka side
SR 436 runs east from US 441 in Apopka, past the Forest City area and into Altamonte Springs, where it meets SR 434 before reaching I-4. It is the heaviest local arterial here, with about 4,543 trucks among roughly 57,500 vehicles a day. US 441 moves fewer vehicles but a higher share of trucks, about 3,180 a day at 10.6%. On an arterial that busy, a parking lot is a safer place to work than a curb lane, so if the truck can roll into one without risk, let it.
Stopped on the SR 414 John Land Apopka Expressway
The John Land Apopka Expressway is a tolled 9.38-mile segment of SR 414 run by the Central Florida Expressway Authority. It has an interchange at SR 434 in Altamonte Springs and direct connections to SR 429 that were completed in 2012; building it removed old railroad tracks that once continued east toward Forest City. FDOT counts about 4,175 trucks a day on SR 414 near the community. On an expressway, stick to the shoulder routine: hazards on, warning devices out, people well away from traffic, and then a call with the direction and the nearest interchange.
The Seminole County rest area as a safer place to wait
FDOT lists an eastbound rest area on I-4 in Seminole County, 2.5 miles east of the SR 434 exit (exit 94), with truck parking, about 6 miles from Forest City. If a truck is still safe to drive, with no red stop-engine lamp, no low-air warning and no coolant temperature climbing, a rest area beats a narrow shoulder as a place to meet a technician. If any red warning is lit, stop where it is safe and call from there instead.
What to tell us about a Forest City breakdown
A good description shortens the visit. Beyond the location, we need the truck’s year, make and engine, and the story behind the stop. Did it die suddenly, lose power gradually, start smoking or refuse to crank after sitting overnight? Did a warning light come on first, and was it yellow or red? Has anything been worked on lately, such as a fuel filter change or new batteries? A truck that quit right after a filter change points the technician one way; one that stalled with a check engine light and a derate points another. Answers like these decide which parts ride along.
What gets fixed on site in Forest City
Mobile work starts with a scan and a test, not a parts order. Once the cause is confirmed, the technician can usually handle dead batteries and corroded cables, worn starters and failed alternators, burst hoses and broken belts, clogged fuel filters and water in the fuel, wiring and sensor faults behind a derate, and air leaks or failing brake chambers on heavy trucks. You receive a digital inspection with photos of the failed parts and the technician’s notes, the same record a shop visit produces, and the labor is covered by RDI Power’s 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty.
Forest City trucks that finish in our bays
Teardown-level engine work, a transmission that has to come out and anything requiring a lift is done in our shop at 1665 Donto Way, Brooksville, which is our only location. We plan that trip with you once the diagnosis is confirmed, so the truck arrives with the work already defined.
For after-hours help, RDI Fleet accounts get 24/7 roadside assistance; our Forest City fleet maintenance page explains the program. The full mobile service is described on mobile diesel repair, and neighbors on the I-4 side can see mobile diesel repair in Altamonte Springs. Weekdays between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM, call (352) 433-3800 and tell us where the truck is.
