Heavy trucks are part of how Pasadena Hills gets built. Subdivisions are going up across the planning area, SR 52 was rebuilt in 2023, and Pasco’s long-range plans widen Curley Road, US 301 and Handcart Road. When a tractor, dump truck or heavy straight truck working here needs repair, RDI Power can take it into the heavy bays in Brooksville, about 32 road miles from central Pasadena Hills, or send a technician to it.
Tractors at the Pasadena Hills SR 52 signals: Mirada, Curley and Prospect
The 7-mile, $82 million SR 52 realignment opened in February 2023 along the northern edge of Pasadena Hills, with traffic signals at Mirada Boulevard, Curley Road and Prospect Road to handle the growth in East Pasco. For a loaded tractor, every red light is a full stop and a full launch. That cycle works the air brakes, the clutch or transmission and the engine’s cooling system harder than an unbroken highway run, and it gives the aftertreatment system less steady heat to work with.
Watch for the early signs: air pressure that takes longer to recover after a series of stops, a pull to one side under braking, a clutch that engages higher than it used to, or regens that come more and more often. Each one is cheaper to fix at the first symptom than at the roadside.
Curley Road, Handcart Road and US 301 on the Pasadena Hills horizon
Pasco County plans call for 6 lanes on Curley Road and US 301 by 2065, 4 lanes on Handcart Road and a Handcart Road extension north to SR 52. In 2023 county planners also recommended a Villages of Pasadena Hills expansion that would have the Hamilton Oaks project build part of the Zephyrhills Bypass and extend Prospect Road to Curley Road. Road building at that scale runs on dump trucks, lowboys and equipment haulers, which are exactly the machines our heavy bays are set up for.
Fixing a heavy truck at a Pasadena Hills job site
The technician who comes out carries heavy duty diagnostic software and starts with codes and live data rather than guesses. Plenty of heavy truck breakdowns end right there with a repair on site: a chafed air line, a failed sensor that triggered a derate, a dead battery bank or corroded ground, a plugged fuel filter, a DEF fault. Before leaving, the technician records what was found and fixed in a digital inspection with photos, so the owner sees the same evidence the technician saw.
Firm ground, room to walk around the truck and someone who can open the gate make a job-site visit go faster.
When a Pasadena Hills truck needs the heavy bays
Bigger jobs come to Donto Way: in-frame and out-of-frame engine work, injectors and turbochargers, DPF and EGR repairs that go beyond a sensor, clutch replacement, and air brake work that means pulling drums. Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, International, Freightliner, Western Star and Volvo trucks are all familiar, as are Detroit, Cummins, Caterpillar and Volvo engines, and our Caterpillar certification covers the Cat side. Your tow company handles the wrecker for the roughly 32-mile trip, and the bay, the parts plan and the diagnosis are ready when it pulls in.
Heavy repairs carry RDI Power’s labor warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles. Trucks on an RDI Fleet account fall under the fleet warranty of 2 years or 24,000 miles, and those accounts can call for roadside help at any hour.
Our semi and heavy-duty truck repair page describes the whole heavy program. For a truck stuck at a site, read mobile diesel repair in Pasadena Hills, and for tractors working the Exit 285 end of SR 52, semi truck repair in San Antonio. Our Wesley Chapel semi truck repair page covers the distribution buildings off Old Pasco Road farther south. Call (352) 433-3800 and describe the unit and what it did.
