St. Leo is better known for its university and its 2 Benedictine monasteries than for freight. Its southern edge, though, sits on SR 52, and I-75 is only a few miles west. RDI Power repairs the tractors and heavy straight trucks that pass that way, in our Brooksville heavy bays or on site with a mobile technician, and we are about 25 road miles from the middle of town.
SR 52 along the south side of St. Leo
The state highway used to run through town on what is now County Road 52. On February 17, 2023, a 7-mile, $82 million realignment opened south of St. Leo and San Antonio, carrying SR 52 between I-75 and US 98/301 at Dade City on a 4-lane divided road. Prospect Road (CR 579) meets it at the southeast corner of town.
For a tractor, the realignment means a divided highway with signals instead of a run down the main street of a college town. It also means breakdowns happen at speed. If a truck starts losing power or air, get it off the lanes while it still moves, set out your triangles and call. The nearest signal or cross road, and whether you were eastbound toward Dade City or westbound toward I-75, is what a technician needs to find you.
I-75 Exit 285, 1.2 miles from St. Leo’s County Road 52 turnoff
Exit 285 is where SR 52 meets the interstate, about 1.2 miles west of the turnoff onto County Road 52. A truck that quits on I-75 near the exit should be described by direction and mile marker. Many roadside failures can be fixed where they happen: air leaks, electrical faults, failed sensors, fuel filter problems and DEF faults that have triggered a derate. The technician scans the truck and confirms the cause before replacing parts, and the visit is documented with photos in a digital inspection.
Heavy repairs for St. Leo-area tractors in Brooksville
When the job needs a bay, the truck comes to Donto Way. That covers engine overhauls, injector and turbocharger replacement, aftertreatment work beyond a sensor, clutch jobs and air brake repairs that mean pulling wheels and drums. Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack, Volvo, International and Western Star tractors all come through our shop, with Cummins, Detroit, Volvo and Caterpillar engines, and RDI Power is Caterpillar certified.
A diesel particulate filter that keeps loading, an EGR valve stuck with soot or a turbo that whistles and smokes all have a reason behind them. We look for that reason, whether it is a leaking injector, a boost leak or a failing sensor, so the repair holds. Labor is backed for 3 years or 36,000 miles, and RDI Fleet accounts carry a 2-year, 24,000-mile fleet warranty plus 24/7 roadside help.
The heavy-duty program is described on semi and heavy-duty truck repair, and air system work is covered on brake systems. For a truck that has stopped in town, see mobile diesel repair in St. Leo, and for trucks on the other side of Curley Road, semi truck repair in San Antonio. Call (352) 433-3800 with the unit, the engine and the symptom, and we will take it from there.
