A round trip from the middle of St. Leo to our shop on Donto Way is close to 50 road miles and roughly an hour and a half behind the wheel. For a single truck once a year, that is an errand. For a group of trucks on a PM schedule, it is a pile of driver hours spent away from the job. RDI Fleet, the fleet program run from RDI Power’s Brooksville shop, is built to keep that number down.
Skipping the 50-mile round trip from St. Leo
Mobile technicians come to fleet yards and job sites with scan tools and repair equipment. That puts the routine work where the trucks already are:
- Engine oil and filter service, plus fuel filters and water separator drains
- Brake inspection with lining measurements, and air leak checks on air brake trucks
- Tires, steering and suspension checks, and chassis lube
- A scan for stored and pending fault codes
- Many repairs, from batteries and belts to sensors and hoses
Work that genuinely needs a bay, such as an engine or transmission job, comes to Brooksville on a date we set with you, and fleet units get priority when they arrive.
Building the plan for a St. Leo operation
The plan follows the trucks. We start with an inventory of each unit, its engine, its mileage or hours and its condition, and then set intervals by miles, engine hours or calendar time depending on how it works. A truck that idles at job sites wears on hours. A truck that runs SR 52 to I-75 every day wears on miles. Both get schedules that match.
St. Leo’s edge is under growth pressure. In 2019 a 175-acre site at SR 52 and Prospect Road was proposed for up to 900 homes and 340,000 square feet of commercial space, and the planning commission recommended approval. Whatever gets built, an operation working that corridor benefits from maintenance it can plan instead of breakdowns it reacts to.
Mixed yards fit on 1 plan: pickups, vans, medium duty trucks, tractors, trailers and buses. Annual DOT inspections go on the same calendar as PM, so each unit comes out of service once for both; our DOT inspections page explains what the inspection covers. ZIP codes do not matter here either. Saint Leo 33574, San Antonio 33576 and Dade City 33525 addresses in town are all inside our area.
Records, warranty and nights for St. Leo fleet accounts
Each visit leaves a digital vehicle inspection with photos and technician notes. Stack those up over a year and you have a service history for every unit and a clear view of what next year will cost. Fleet repairs carry a 2-year / 24,000-mile RDI Fleet warranty, and fleet accounts have 24/7 roadside assistance for the breakdown that happens after the shop closes at 4:00 PM.
The full program lives on RDI Fleet maintenance. For on-site repairs outside a plan, see mobile diesel repair in St. Leo, and operators based across Lake Jovita can read fleet maintenance in San Antonio. Call (352) 433-3800 with a list of your units, even a rough one.
