Masaryktown’s founders built a rock crusher plant in the 1920s to turn limestone into material for roads and farms, so heavy work around Masaryktown is nothing new. Today it means tractors on Broad Street, trucks turning at Ayers Road for the bypass toward Spring Hill and, starting in late 2026, a major FDOT resurfacing job. RDI Power repairs those trucks in our heavy bays about 16 minutes north, or on site when a truck cannot move.
Ayers Road turn lanes and heavy trucks in Masaryktown
The Ayers Road Extension (CR-576) bypasses Masaryktown and links US-41 west toward Spring Hill. It is the first part of a planned 10.8-mile, 4-lane corridor to US-19, and its junction with US-41 is where that corridor begins. FDOT’s upcoming US-41 project will lengthen the left turn lanes at Ayers Road and add a right turn lane from Ayers Road onto northbound US-41.
Turning a loaded tractor at an intersection like that puts its load on the front end. Kingpins, tie rod ends and drag links wear, steer tires scrub at the shoulders, and an alignment that has drifted shows up first as uneven tire wear. If your truck makes that turn every day, a front-end inspection belongs in its routine. Our truck wheel alignment page explains what we measure and adjust.
Paving season on US-41 south of Powell Road
FDOT’s $7.93 million resurfacing covers 4.4 miles of US-41, from south of County Line Road to south of Powell Road, with work scheduled to begin in late 2026 and run to about summer 2027. If your dump truck or lowboy is hauling on a road job like this one, the duty is hard in particular ways:
- Brakes and air supply. Loaded stops on short cycles heat drums and linings and keep the compressor working.
- Springs and bushings. Rough site entrances and milled surfaces load the suspension.
- Cooling. Slow, heavy work with little airflow through the radiator in Florida heat pushes coolant temperatures up.
- Aftertreatment. Long idle periods while waiting on a paver keep exhaust temperatures down and the particulate filter loading.
Trucks that pass through the work zone without working it see the slow-traffic side of the same problem: more idling, more interrupted regenerations.
