Nobody runs a tractor through High Point’s guarded gate. The community is a 55+ golf neighborhood, and its heavy-truck story is entirely on Cortez Boulevard outside, on the SR-50 stretch that links US-19 at Weeki Wachee, 4 miles west, with Brookridge and the Suncoast Parkway to the east. RDI Power repairs the tractors, straight trucks and vocational rigs on that road in our heavy bays on Donto Way, about 16 minutes east of the middle of High Point, or on site with a mobile technician.
The SR-50 stretch in front of High Point
Several landmarks line this part of Cortez Boulevard. HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital, at 11375 Cortez Boulevard just before the High Point gateway, is one of the county’s top employers. The Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative has an office on SR-50 west of High Point, between US-19 and the Sand Hill Scout Reservation entrance. Farther west, SR-50 meets US-19 at Weeki Wachee.
For a heavy truck, that means a mix of highway-speed miles and stops at entrances, signals and loading areas. If your truck works this stretch, the engine sees sustained load on the open highway while the brakes and steering do their hardest work at the turns.
If your High Point-area rig is a bucket or boom truck
Not every heavy truck pulls a trailer. Bucket, boom and crane trucks are built on the same heavy chassis as a tractor, with the same diesel engines, air brakes and electrical systems, but they spend long stretches parked and running at a job. That duty piles up engine hours far faster than miles, which matters for oil change intervals and for the aftertreatment system: long idle periods keep exhaust temperatures low, the particulate filter loads with soot, and EGR parts gum up. Hour-based maintenance and a close look at regeneration history keep those trucks from derating in the middle of a job. Our lifting page covers that class of truck in more detail.
Heavy engine, brake and aftertreatment work for High Point routes
The bays handle Detroit, Cummins, Volvo and Caterpillar engines, and RDI Power is Caterpillar certified. Engine work covers injectors, turbochargers, EGR coolers, oil coolers, head gaskets and in-frame overhauls, with a hard look at blow-by, compression and coolant condition before any overhaul is recommended. Aftertreatment repairs trace a derate to its source, whether that is a NOx sensor, a DEF heater or doser, a plugged DPF or an upstream fault such as a leaking injector. Air brake work runs from compressors and dryers to slack adjusters, chambers and air disc brakes, and the trailer can be repaired in the same visit.
Getting a heavy truck from High Point to the bays
A tractor that runs normally can make the 16-minute trip east on SR-50. One that has lost air, is overheating or is stuck in a derate should not be pushed, and a mobile technician can often diagnose and fix it where it stopped. If the truck needs the shop, we plan the tow with you and the diagnosis goes with it. RDI Fleet accounts have roadside help any hour of the day; owner-operators can reach the shop weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Every heavy truck gets a digital inspection with photos of brakes, tires and suspension before it leaves, and the labor carries a 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty.
