High Point itself is a gated retirement community, but the stretch of Cortez Boulevard in front of it is a working corridor. HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital, one of Hernando County’s top employers, sits at 11375 Cortez Boulevard just before the High Point gateway. The Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative has an office a little farther west, and US-19 meets SR-50 at Weeki Wachee 4 miles away. RDI Fleet, RDI Power’s fleet program, keeps trucks, vans and buses on that end of the county running to a plan rather than from breakdown to breakdown.
Fleet work on the west end of Cortez Boulevard near High Point
Fleets on a corridor like this can look nothing alike. If you run ambulances or medical transport vans in and out of Oak Hill Hospital, uptime is not a convenience, and our first responder vehicle work starts from that. If your trucks are bucket trucks, service bodies or delivery vans, they rack up idle hours, short hops and heavy loads in different proportions, and each pattern wears a different set of parts.
What they share is distance from the shop. Our bays are about 16 minutes east on SR-50 from the middle of High Point, close enough for planned shop visits but far enough that unplanned trips cost real time.
A plan that fits a High Point-area operation
RDI Fleet plans are written around how your operation runs, what you can spend and what you drive. A first meeting produces a list of units with their engines, mileage or hours, duty and any open problems, and from there:
- Intervals are set per unit. Mileage for highway trucks, engine hours for vehicles that idle at a job or on standby, calendar time for buses and low-mileage units.
- Annual inspections join the PM calendar, so each truck, trailer or bus that needs one comes out of service once for both.
- Unscheduled breakdowns on fleet units move to the front of the shop queue.
- Every visit is documented with a digital inspection, photos and notes.
One plan can carry a mixed roster, from an ambulance or a service van to a heavy truck, a trailer or a bus, and our preventive maintenance page lists what a typical PM includes.
Yard or shop for High Point-area units
Much of the routine work does not need a lift. Oil service, filter changes, greasing, brake and tire checks, battery tests and code scans can all be done by a mobile technician where your vehicles park, along with many smaller repairs. Engine overhauls, transmission jobs and anything else that needs a bay is booked into the shop on a day you can spare the unit, and because the shop starts at 7:00 AM, a vehicle sent over first thing loses the least of its day.
Records and coverage that follow each High Point unit
Each digital inspection becomes part of that unit’s file, split between items that need attention now and items that can ride until the next visit. That history makes it easier to decide when to keep repairing a vehicle and when to retire it, and it gives a manager a plain-language record to share with drivers or an auditor. Fleet repairs on High Point-area units carry the RDI Fleet warranty of 2 years / 24,000 miles, and fleet accounts can get roadside assistance 24/7 when a vehicle stops on SR-50 after hours.
Our RDI Fleet page describes the full program. Diesel pickups in a High Point fleet are covered in more depth on truck repair in High Point, and operators next door can compare fleet maintenance in Brookridge. Start with a call to (352) 433-3800 and a rough list of what you run.
