A county seat of about 3,300 people, Bunnell sits where US 1 crosses SR 100. I-95 is roughly 4 miles east along SR 100, and Palatka is about 30 miles northwest the other way. Flagler County around it still farms: cabbage, potatoes, hay, sod and beef cattle. RDI Power does not have a shop or office in Bunnell. When a diesel stops here, a technician comes out from our Brooksville shop with diagnostic tools and on-site repair capability, and the opening phone call decides whether the repair can happen where the truck sits.
SR 100 between Bunnell and I-95
Among the roads through Bunnell itself, SR 100 carries the most trucks. FDOT’s 2025 counts show about 5,481 trucks a day on the segment between Commerce Parkway and Belle Terre Boulevard, 31.5% of all traffic, close to 1 vehicle in 3. If your truck stops on SR 100, tell us whether you were heading east toward I-95 or northwest toward Palatka, and give the nearest crossroad or business. Get as far off the pavement as the shoulder safely allows, put out your triangles and wait well away from the traffic side.
US 1 through the middle of Bunnell
US 1 runs straight through the center of town, carrying about 2,591 trucks a day at a 16.5% share, and SR 11 adds about 917 more. FDOT also lists a southbound truck scale on US 1 under the Bunnell name, which makes a handy reference point if you stopped near it. In town, a truck that can still roll is better off on a side street or in a lot than in a lane of US 1, both for your safety and the technician’s.
Farm trucks on Flagler County land near Bunnell
The UF/IFAS Flagler County Extension office on Sawgrass Road in Bunnell serves the county’s livestock producers and its cabbage and potato growers. The 2017 Ag Census counted 79,246 acres of farm land in Flagler County, about 5,500 acres of it vegetable cropland along with hay and sod, and some 5,645 head of beef cattle. Irish potatoes even appear on the county seal.
When a farm truck or the tractor pulling a stock trailer quits out on the property, the technician comes to it. That is one of the main reasons mobile service exists, since a sick truck may not survive a long tow. A few things help: move the truck onto firm ground if it can still move, because a service truck cannot work well in soft sand after a rain; have someone on hand to open gates; and tell us if livestock are loaded. Our agriculture page has more on the farm trucks that work Flagler County land.
Bunnell repairs a service truck can handle
Diagnosis comes first. The technician reads codes and live data with dealer-level tools, Ford IDS for a Power Stroke and WiTECH for a Ram, or heavy-duty software for a tractor, and confirms the failed part before replacing it. On site, that covers a lot:
- Batteries, cables, starters and alternators
- Air leaks, brake chambers and slack adjusters on air-brake trucks and trailers
- Fuel filters, water separators and air in the fuel system
- Sensors and wiring that trigger warning lights or cut power
- Belts, hoses and reachable coolant leaks
- Trailer lights, plugs and wiring
The repair is written up on a digital inspection with photos and notes, so the owner sees the failed part even if they were not standing in the field.
When a Bunnell truck needs the Brooksville shop
Internal engine failures, transmission rebuilds and lift work are shop jobs. When the diagnosis lands there, we work out with you how the truck gets to Brooksville and when, and what the downtime will look like during a busy season. The on-site findings go with it, so the shop does not start over. Shop labor carries a 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty; repairs on RDI Fleet accounts carry 2 years / 24,000 miles.
Calling RDI from Bunnell
Fleet accounts get roadside assistance around the clock. If you are not on one, call (352) 433-3800 on a weekday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are honest about distance: technicians come from Brooksville, so you will get a realistic estimate rather than a promise.
To plan maintenance instead of reacting to breakdowns, see Bunnell fleet maintenance. Our Palm Coast mobile diesel repair page covers the I-95 side of SR 100, and the full program is under mobile diesel repair.
