Silver Springs Shores lies about 10 miles southeast of central Ocala and is the largest community in southeastern Marion County, with 24,846 residents at the 2020 census. The short line Florida Northern Railroad lists a Silver Spring Shores Lumber Transload among its transloading sites, on its branch that runs south through Ocala and Maricamp to Candler. Lumber comes off the rail cars there and goes out on trucks, so the site sees heavy flatbeds pulling out fully loaded.
A flatbed that will not restart after loading, or one that loses air before it reaches the road, is often a job the technician can finish in the yard, provided the operator permits outside service and the truck can be reached from all sides.
