Trilby has only a handful of through roads, and that works in a stranded driver’s favor. US 98, US 301 and County Road 575 carry most of the traffic, and each of them has a landmark a technician can drive straight to. Mobile diesel repair sends that technician out from Brooksville with diagnostic software and the parts for common failures. Nobody here will promise an arrival time on the phone, but you will get a straight answer about when a technician can reach Trilby.
Pinning down a stopped truck at the Trilby split
These are the roads and reference points that matter around Trilby:
- US 98 runs along the east side of town, just north of where it splits from US 301.
- US 301 and US 98 share the road south from Trilacoochee toward Dade City.
- CR 575 (Trilby Road) crosses the center of town and heads east to Trilacoochee and Lacoochee.
- Old Trilby Road follows a former alignment of the state highway that became US 301.
- The trailheads. The Withlacoochee State Trail ends at US 98 and 301 south of Trilby, with the CR 575 Trilby Trailhead in town and the Owensboro Junction Trailhead off US 98 and 301.
- The rails. CSX’s Wildwood Subdivision crosses the old Owensboro junction south of town.
Give us the road, the direction you were headed and the closest of those landmarks. Add the make, the engine and what the truck did right before it stopped, because that shapes what the technician loads up.
Working around the US 301 widening near Trilby
FDOT’s US 301 widening has closed CR 575 east of US 301 and plans a Trilby Road closure west of US 301 running to about spring or summer 2027. Work zones bring narrow shoulders and shifting lanes, and a technician will not start a repair where traffic is passing too close. If your truck stops inside the construction, say so on the call; we may plan to move it to a safer spot first.
What gets fixed on the shoulder outside Trilby
Plenty of breakdowns turn out to be a small part in a bad place. A pickup that clicks but will not crank often has a battery, cable or ground problem. A truck that died right after a fuel filter change may just need the air purged from its fuel system. Water in the fuel, a split coolant hose, a thrown belt, a failed alternator or a sensor that dropped the engine into derate can usually be handled where the truck sits. On a tractor, air line leaks and brake chamber problems are common roadside fixes, and so is trailer light wiring.
The visit starts with a scan and a test to confirm the fault, not a guess. When it is done, you get the same photo-documented digital inspection the shop produces, with the technician’s notes on what failed and what was replaced.
When on-site is not enough in Trilby
Internal engine work, transmission rebuilds, alignments and anything that needs a lift belong indoors. When that is the case, the on-site diagnosis already tells us what the truck needs, and we plan the tow of about 19 miles up US-98 and across SR-50 with you so the truck arrives to a waiting plan. For the shop side of things, see our diesel repair page for Trilby.
Calling for a technician from Trilby
Fleet customers can call any hour for roadside assistance. Trilby drivers without a fleet account can call (352) 433-3800 during shop hours, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Stay well clear of traffic while you wait; the truck can sit, but you should not be standing beside it on US 301. Our mobile diesel repair page explains the full program, and the Lacoochee mobile diesel repair page covers SR 575 and the industrial roads just east of here.
