On a ranch off Powell Road, our shop is not around the corner. It is in Brooksville, about 11 road miles and 23 minutes from the middle of Spring Lake, and a truck that will not start in a pasture is not going to drive there. That is what mobile service is for in Spring Lake: a technician brings scan tools, common parts and repair equipment to the grove, the hay barn, the ranch yard or the shoulder of Spring Lake Highway.
Finding a Spring Lake farm truck
Spring Lake has few street addresses a stranger would recognize, so describe the spot by its roads. Spring Lake Highway (CR 541) runs through the middle, with Powell Road (CR 572), Hayman Road (CR 576), Neff Lake Road and Old Trilby Road meeting it. The highway itself has 2 easy landmarks: the Spring Lake Community Center at 4184 and Boyett’s Grove at 4355. Tell us which side of the road the gate is on, whether it is locked, and who can meet the technician. A phone map pin removes the guesswork.
Groves, hay fields and Powell Road ranch land
Along Spring Lake Highway, orange groves, former groves and hay farms share the hills, and Powell Road crosses farm and ranch land on its way in. Diesel work on that kind of ground has a few practical needs:
- Solid footing. A service truck is heavy. Hard lanes, packed yards and barn aprons work; a field soaked by an afternoon storm may not.
- A level spot. Jacking, draining fluids and working under a vehicle all go better on flat ground, which matters in a community whose elevations run from about 120 to 280 feet.
- Space. Room to walk around the truck and park alongside it.
- Information. What the truck was doing when it quit, what the dash showed and any recent repairs.
Farm diesel problems that end at the Spring Lake gate
In farm country, trouble often starts with a vehicle that sat. Batteries go flat, fuel collects water, filters plug on the first hard day. Those, and a long list of other faults, are fixable on site:
- Dead batteries, corroded cables, failed starters and alternators
- Clogged fuel filters, water in the separator and air in the lines
- Broken belts, burst hoses and leaking clamps
- Air leaks and brake chamber problems on heavier trucks and trailers
- Sensor, connector and wiring faults that trigger warning lights or a derate
The photo report and technician notes from a ranch visit look the same as a shop report, and the labor carries the same 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty. Our agriculture page covers the farm trucks and trailers we keep running.
Planning a shop visit from Spring Lake
Engine teardowns, transmission work, alignments and anything that needs a lift happen in the shop. The farm visit still pays off, because the technician confirms the failure and the truck arrives on Donto Way with a plan. The shop visit itself is covered under Spring Lake diesel repair, and the mobile diesel repair page describes the service-truck program as a whole.
Around-the-clock roadside help comes with an RDI Fleet account; without one, the shop line, (352) 433-3800, is answered weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. North of the community, where CR 541 meets Cortez Boulevard, the Hill ’n Dale mobile diesel repair page takes over.
