Most of the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge can be reached only by boat, so the county ramp at the end of Miss Maggie Drive is where the trailers, the trucks that pull them and the campers all meet. When one of those trucks will not restart, RDI Power’s mobile technicians come out from Brooksville, about 18 road miles and 26 minutes from the middle of Chassahowitzka, with scan tools and the equipment to fix what can be fixed on site.
Pinpointing a truck along Miss Maggie Drive and at the Chassahowitzka landing

The Chassahowitzka ramp, the trailer and a truck that will not restart
A no-start at the landing is often electrical. A battery that was already weak, a corroded terminal or a starter at the end of its life can leave a truck clicking in the lot after a day on the water. Other common culprits are air in the fuel after a recent filter change, a fuel filter loaded with water, or an overheated transmission that set a code on the pull up the ramp. The technician scans the truck, tests the suspect part and repairs it there when the job allows. If the truck is on the ramp itself, safety comes first: parking brake set, wheels chocked and people clear of the trailer.
Coaches at the Chassahowitzka River Campground
A diesel pusher that will not start, will not air up or has a warning light at the campground does not automatically need a tow. Engine, Allison transmission, air brake and air suspension problems can often be diagnosed at the campsite, and many repairs, from leveling valves and air lines to belts, batteries and sensors, can be finished there. Check that the campground allows the work, and tell us the site number when you call.
When a tow from Chassahowitzka to Brooksville makes more sense
Jobs that need a lift or a teardown go to Brooksville, about 18 road miles from the landing. When the Chassahowitzka diagnosis points that way, we line up the tow together and send the findings along, so the shop does not repeat the testing. Fleet customers on an RDI Fleet plan are covered by roadside assistance around the clock, and anyone else can phone the shop at (352) 433-3800 during weekday hours. Whether the work happens at the ramp or in the bay, you receive a digital inspection with photos.
