On the Ozello keys, a stopped truck is likely to be somewhere along the Ozello Trail or at the community park ramp. From RDI Power’s shop in Brooksville, it is roughly 32 road miles and 52 minutes to the middle of Ozello, and our mobile technicians make that drive to scan the truck where it sits and fix it there when the job allows. The rest of this page covers how to describe your location, how to stay safe on a winding road and what can be fixed on site.
Describing a stop on the Ozello Trail
CR-494, the West Ozello Trail, runs west off US-19/98 out to the Gulf. Because the road winds across marsh and keys, distance is the best reference. Tell us roughly how far you are from US-19/98, whether you were heading toward the Gulf or back toward the highway, and any address, mailbox number or landmark nearby. The Ozello Community Park ramp is an easy landmark on the trail, so “half a mile past the park” or “just before the park” helps a technician more than anything else.
Safe places to work on Ozello’s winding road
The trail is full of sharp curves, and trailered boats share it with motorcyclists out for a ride to the Gulf. A truck stopped in a blind curve is a hazard to everyone. If the truck still moves, ease it to a straight stretch or a pull-off where approaching drivers can see it, turn on the hazards and set out triangles if you carry them. Stay out of the travel lane while you wait. The technician makes the final call on safety at the scene, and if a curve on the trail is no place to work, the first job becomes getting the truck somewhere better.
Trucks at the Ozello Community Park ramp
The free county ramp launches onto St. Martins Marsh and has 1 lane and 28 parking spaces, including trailer parking. When a tow rig sits silent in the Ozello lot after a day on the marsh, electrical trouble is the first suspect: a weak battery, terminals crusted with salt, a ground strap rotted through or a starter near the end. Other suspects include a fuel system that lost its prime, a filter full of water, or a transmission that ran hot hauling the boat up the ramp and stored a code. Each one gets confirmed with a scan tool and testing before a part goes on, and each visit comes with a digital inspection and photos.
When an Ozello truck needs the Brooksville bays
Engine teardowns, transmission work, alignments and lift jobs cannot happen on the keys, and from Ozello the shop is 32 road miles off, so those repairs start with a planned tow. We set it up together, and the on-site findings ride along so the Brooksville technicians pick up where the mobile visit ended. Ozello trucks on an RDI Fleet plan get roadside assistance day or night; other owners can reach the shop at (352) 433-3800 from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
The community overview is on Ozello diesel repair, and the full program on mobile diesel repair. Since Ozello shares Crystal River’s ZIP code, our Crystal River mobile diesel repair page covers the neighboring area, and the river landing to the south is on mobile diesel repair in Chassahowitzka.
