Progress Village is a small, mostly residential community of 11,188 people near the geographic center of Hillsborough County, 9 miles southeast of downtown Tampa. Palm River-Clair Mel lies to the north, Riverview to the east and Gibsonton to the south. I-75 runs along the entire eastern edge and County Road 573 along the western one. Diesel trucks pass beside and through it every day, and when one stops, an RDI Power mobile technician comes out from our Brooksville shop with diagnostic tools and the equipment to repair it on site.
I-75 along the Progress Village edge
The interstate is the busiest road in the picture. FDOT’s 2025 inventory counts about 11,969 trucks a day on I-75 near Progress Village, 10.1% of roughly 118,500 vehicles. A truck that stops there needs two things before it needs a technician: distance from traffic and a clear description of where it is.
Pull as far onto the shoulder as the truck allows, or better, coast off at the next exit if no red warning is showing. Set out triangles behind the truck and wait away from it, on the side away from the lanes. When you call, the direction you were heading and the last exit you passed are worth more than any street address.
US 41 and US 301 near Progress Village
A short way west, US 41 carries about 5,003 trucks a day between Riverview Drive and Madison Avenue, 14.5% of its traffic. To the east, past I-75, US 301 adds about 3,276 trucks a day. Those are working roads, and the trucks on them stop for working-truck reasons: a coolant hose that let go, an alternator that quit, an air leak that will not let the brakes release. On either road, the nearest cross street or a business you can see from the cab is the fastest way to guide a technician in.
Around Progress Village schools and neighborhoods
Progress Village Middle Magnet School of the Arts and Jack Lamb Elementary School sit on the community’s southern edge. If a truck acts up near a school zone and can still be driven safely, move it clear of the pickup and drop-off traffic before you stop. Mobile service covers business lots, fleet yards, job sites and the roadside. If the truck is somewhere else, call and we will help you work out the best next step.
What the technician can repair in Progress Village
Every visit starts with a diagnosis: fault codes, live data and the tests those codes call for, using Ford IDS on Power Stroke trucks, WiTECH on Ram and heavy duty software for tractors and medium duty trucks. With the cause confirmed, a lot of breakdowns end right there. Dead batteries and corroded cables, failed starters and alternators, broken belts, burst hoses, clogged fuel filters, water in the separator, chafed wiring, failed sensors and leaking air lines are all routine on-site work. Electrical faults can be the hardest to pin down, and our electrical system page explains how we trace them.
The repair is documented on a digital vehicle inspection with photos, so the person responsible for the truck sees what was found and fixed.
Diesel pickups and vans around Progress Village
Not every call involves a tractor. Diesel pickups and vans that tow, haul tools or carry a crew through Progress Village break down too, and they get the same attention. RDI Power works on Power Stroke engines from the 6.0 through the 6.7 and the older 7.3, on Duramax and Cummins, and on Nissan Titan XD and Sprinter diesels. Our team includes a Ford specialist with more than 30 years at a Ford dealership and a service advisor who spent 35 years as a technician at a Chevrolet dealership. A no-start on a pickup gets the same diagnosis-first approach as a stalled semi.
When a Progress Village truck goes to Brooksville
If the problem is internal to the engine or transmission, or the truck needs to go up on a lift, it is a shop job. The technician explains the failure and helps plan the trip to our Brooksville bays, including when the truck can come out of service and how it gets there. The diagnosis goes with it.
