Temple Terrace is the third and smallest incorporated city in Hillsborough County, after Tampa and Plant City, and it sits in the middle of heavy truck traffic. I-75 runs along its eastern edge, where the city meets rural county land. In FDOT’s 2025 counts, nearby US-301 is 22.7% trucks and SR-583 is 21.2% trucks, more than double the share on I-75 itself. RDI Power has no shop in Temple Terrace. Our mobile technicians come down from Brooksville to diesels that stop on those roads, in town or on a job.
Temple Terrace’s truck-heavy corridors
Here is what FDOT counted near Temple Terrace in 2025:
| Road | Trucks per day | Share of traffic |
|---|---|---|
| I-75 | about 17,322 | 10.1% |
| SR-583 | about 8,904 | 21.2% |
| US-301 | about 7,718 | 22.7% |
| SR-582 | about 4,716 | 7.2% |
On roads where roughly one vehicle in five is a truck, a technician has to be ready for heavy-duty failures: air system leaks that lock up brakes, cooling trouble on loaded tractors, and electrical faults that derate an engine in traffic.
A stalled tractor on I-75 by Temple Terrace
I-75 carried about 171,500 vehicles a day beside Temple Terrace in 2025. A tractor-trailer that loses power there needs to get onto the right shoulder or a ramp while it still can. Hazards on, triangles out at the distances the federal rules require, and wait away from the rig. Then call with your direction, the nearest exit and the mile marker.
If the truck can travel safely and you are near I-4, FDOT lists a westbound truck comfort station near Seffner, 2 miles east of the Mango Road exit (Exit 10), with 16 truck parking spaces, about 6.5 miles from Temple Terrace. A parking space is a much better place for a technician to work than an interstate shoulder.
Air brake trouble on Temple Terrace truck routes
On roads as truck-heavy as US-301 and SR-583, air system failures are among the calls a technician has to be ready for. A tractor’s low-air warning comes on at 60 psi or above, and if pressure keeps falling, the spring brakes apply on their own, usually somewhere between 20 and 45 psi. That is the system protecting you, so do not try to force the brakes released to limp the truck along.
On site, the technician finds the leak by listening with the engine running and checking lines, fittings, gladhand seals, brake chambers and valves. A cracked line or a chafed hose is usually a quick repair. A failed compressor, governor or air dryer may be fixable there as well, depending on the part and the location. Once the system holds pressure, brake adjustment gets checked before the truck goes back to work.
Around town: the river, Telecom Park and the repaving jobs
The Hillsborough River runs through the eastern and southern parts of Temple Terrace, so many routes through town have to cross it. Between 1984 and 1987 the city annexed Telecom Park and nearby areas, doubling its size and tripling its tax base. And as of October 2026, the city lists a roadway improvement project to repave 25 streets, which means work zones on some local routes.
A truck that breaks down near a bridge, a work zone or a narrow street should be moved somewhere safer if it can roll. Tell us the street, the nearest cross street and any landmark, and whether the truck is blocking traffic. In the Telecom Park area, a building address and the loading area or lot where the truck sits are the fastest way to point a technician to it.
What a Temple Terrace roadside visit can fix
The technician diagnoses first, with dealer-level software and heavy-duty scan tools, and confirms the failure before replacing parts. On-site repairs commonly include air lines, fittings and brake chambers; batteries, starters and alternators; belts, hoses and coolant leaks; fuel filters and water separators; and sensors and wiring. The visit is documented in a digital vehicle inspection with photos and notes, and labor carries RDI Power’s 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. Fuel system diagnosis gets the same care: RDI is a Bosch dealer and works with Alliant Power injection parts, so a suspect injector or pump is tested before it is condemned.
When the failure is internal, such as engine damage or a transmission that has quit, we plan with you how the truck reaches our Brooksville shop. Our heavy-duty truck repair page describes what happens there.
