Ryan Bethell built RDI Power on mobile fleet work, keeping trucks running between Brooksville and Tampa before the shop opened. RDI Fleet is that same idea organized into a program, and it fits a place like Hernando Beach well. The community sits about 19 road miles from our Brooksville shop, its business village of docks, marinas and bait shops lines Shoal Line Boulevard, and a 2005 state funding request described the channel as the route that brings in shrimp from commercial fishermen. Any truck that works near that water lives with salt.
Hernando Beach units and salt exposure
Corrosion matters far more to a coastal fleet than to an inland one. For units that park near the canals or back trailers into the channel, we add these to every inspection:
- Brake lines, calipers, slack adjusters and air fittings
- Battery terminals, ground straps and the connectors for lights, sensors and trailer feeds
- Trailer hubs, bearings, springs and wiring
- Frame rails, crossmembers and hitch or fifth wheel hardware
Because every visit ends with a digital inspection, photos show how each spot changes over time, and a rusting line becomes a planned repair instead of a failure on the road.
Storm-season planning for Hernando Beach fleets
In September 2024, Hurricane Helene’s estimated 8-foot surge damaged or destroyed docks and boats across Hernando Beach, a year after Idalia. Where you stage units when a storm threatens is your decision. What a plan can do is make sure trucks go into storm season with fresh maintenance, and that any unit that may have been in water gets checked before it returns to service: engine oil and intake for water, fuel and filters, transmission and axle fluids, wheel bearings, brakes and electrical connectors. A truck that runs after a flood can still be carrying damage that surfaces weeks later.
Hernando Beach yard visits instead of the 32-minute run
From the middle of Hernando Beach to Donto Way is about 32 minutes each way. Mobile technicians come to your yard for inspections, filter service and many repairs, so units stay near the docks. When a truck needs a bay, we book its preventive maintenance, open repairs and annual DOT inspection into a single visit. Each plan is written for the way your operation runs, what it can spend, how many units it has and what kind, with service timed by mileage, engine hours or the calendar, and fleet units move to the front of the line when something breaks.
A plan starts at your yard. We walk the units with you, list each by VIN, engine, mileage or hours and condition, and flag the ones with open problems or heavy corrosion so they are handled first. The intervals and inspection dates that come out of that walk-around go on a shared schedule.
Records, warranty and roadside for Hernando Beach accounts
Each unit builds a service history from its photo reports, which makes repair-or-replace decisions easier to defend. Work done under the fleet account is warrantied for 2 years or 24,000 miles, and fleet customers can call for roadside help at any hour. Our Hernando Beach mobile diesel repair page covers what a technician handles on site.
The full program is described on RDI Fleet maintenance, and operators along the river to the north can compare at Weeki Wachee Gardens fleet maintenance. Call (352) 433-3800 with a list of your units to start a plan.
