A yard in Shady Hills is close enough to our shop for planned visits and far enough that every one of them should earn its place on the calendar. RDI Fleet is RDI Power’s fleet program, run from the same Brooksville shop as everything else we do, and it exists for operators who would rather schedule maintenance than absorb breakdowns. Everything from pickups to Class 8 tractors qualifies, along with trailers and buses.
Running a fleet from Shady Hills, 18 miles from the bays
From the middle of Shady Hills to 1665 Donto Way is about 18 road miles, a little over half an hour by Shady Hills Road, County Line Road, the Parkway and SR-50. A plan built for that distance looks like this:
- Routine work at your yard. Mobile technicians bring scan tools and repair equipment to where the trucks sit, so PM, inspections and smaller repairs do not cost a driver a morning on the road.
- Shop trips that do several jobs. A unit that has to visit the bays gets its scheduled service, its open repair items and its annual DOT inspection handled on that one trip.
- Early starts. The shop opens at 7:00 AM, Monday to Friday, so a truck that leaves Shady Hills at dawn can be up on a lift early in the morning.
- Priority when something breaks. Fleet accounts move ahead in the line.
Matching service intervals to Shady Hills work
A fleet plan is only as good as its intervals, and intervals should follow the work each unit actually does. Shady Hills puts very different jobs side by side: the county’s resource recovery and landfill complex on Hays Road at one end, quiet acreage roads at the other. We build the schedule unit by unit:
- Loaded short-haul trucks. If a dump or roll-off truck spends its shift on short, heavy trips and long idles, we track engine hours and idle time along with miles, and we watch the particulate filter, brakes and cooling system closely.
- Service and utility trucks. Units that sit idling on a job site get hour-based intervals instead of a simple mileage sticker.
- Pickups and vans. Mileage-based service, with the glow plug or grid heater, batteries and front end checked at each visit.
- Trailers and buses. Brakes, lights, wiring and suspension on the same calendar as the trucks, and annual inspections staggered so no 2 units come due in the same week. Our Shady Hills DOT inspections page explains inspection day.
Our article on the benefits of mobile fleet maintenance goes deeper on why yard visits pay for themselves.
County Line Road timing and the Shady Hills shop schedule
Every shop trip from Shady Hills crosses the 2-lane stretch of County Line Road between Shady Hills Road and the Parkway. Hernando and Pasco own that road together, and their $65 million widening had not left the design stage by June 2026; the funding plan puts right-of-way dollars in place by July 2028 and construction dollars by July 2030. Nothing changes for now. When work does start, we will plan drop-off and pickup times with you so a lane closure does not eat into a unit’s day.
What a Shady Hills fleet account includes
Whether it happens in a Shady Hills yard or in our bays, every visit produces a digital inspection report with photos and technician notes. A year of those reports adds up to a file on every truck, which turns keep-or-replace decisions into a conversation backed by evidence. Fleet-account repairs are warranted for 2 years or 24,000 miles, and when a unit quits after the 4:00 PM close or on a weekend, the account’s round-the-clock roadside coverage applies.
