Distance shapes a fleet plan. From the middle of Moon Lake to our Brooksville shop is about 27 road miles, so every unit sent in for service rolls roughly 54 miles before anyone counts the trip to shuttle the driver back. RDI Fleet, RDI Power’s fleet program, is built to cut those trips down: routine work at your yard, shop visits only when a job truly needs the bays, and a schedule you can plan around.
Why a Moon Lake yard benefits from on-site PM
Our mobile technicians bring the scan tools, filters, fluids and repair equipment to where the trucks park. In a single yard visit they can service several units, run the same inspection checklist we use in the shop and handle many smaller repairs on the spot. Drivers start their routes with their own trucks instead of a borrowed one, and nobody loses a morning on SR 52.
For yard work in Moon Lake, the technician needs firm, level ground, room to walk around each truck and a place to park the service vehicle beside it. A list of the units due, plus any driver complaints, lets the technician plan the order of the day. The reasoning behind all of this is laid out in our article on fleet diesel engine maintenance.
Scheduling around Moon Lake Road delays
Moon Lake Road is 2 lanes south of its first widened stretch, and in 2024 developer turn-lane work had traffic alternating through a single lane. The county’s own widening is not slated for funding until 2028. For a fleet, that means pickup and drop-off times for shop visits should leave slack, and trucks based near the south end of Moon Lake may find the Ridge Road Extension, open to 2-way traffic since the end of 2021, the simpler way east to the Parkway than running north to SR 52.
Brooksville doors open at 7:00 on weekday mornings. A unit that leaves Moon Lake early can be in a bay at the start of the shift.
One trip, several jobs for Moon Lake units
When a truck does make the drive, it should come home with everything done. Under a plan, its scheduled PM, any open repair items and its annual DOT inspection are booked for the same visit. Inspection due dates are staggered across the year so the whole yard never comes due at once, and inspections can also be done at the yard. Trailers and buses ride on the same calendar as the trucks.
RDI Fleet coverage for Moon Lake units
Fleet accounts get priority service when something breaks, a written record for each unit in the form of digital inspections with photos and notes, and the RDI Fleet warranty of 2 years / 24,000 miles on repairs. Round-the-clock roadside assistance covers fleet trucks that stop after 4:00 PM or on a weekend, whether that happens on Moon Lake Road or far from it; our Moon Lake mobile diesel repair page shows what a technician can do on site.
Plan structure, warranty terms and roadside coverage are spelled out on our RDI Fleet maintenance page. Yards a little farther south, near the Ridge Road and De Cubellis Road junction, are covered on our River Ridge fleet maintenance page. A Moon Lake fleet plan starts with a call to (352) 433-3800 and a list of what you run.
