At about 27 road miles from our shop, Moon Lake is near the outer edge of where bringing a truck to Brooksville is the obvious answer. That is why the mobile side of RDI Power matters here. A technician brings diagnostic software, a stocked service truck and the know-how to finish many repairs on site, at the yard, the job site or the shoulder of Moon Lake Road, and when a truck truly needs a lift, the technician’s findings go with it.
Pinpointing a stopped truck along Moon Lake Road
Almost every Moon Lake call starts on CR 587, so describe where along it the truck sits:
- The SR 52 end. Moon Lake Road meets SR 52 at the community’s north edge, and its first stretch southwest from there is a divided 4-lane road.
- The 2-lane section. Farther south the road narrows. Give the nearest side street, such as Oconee Boulevard or Lake Drive.
- East or west side. Moon Lake Estates lines the east side of the road; the Water’s Edge subdivision sits to the west. Moon Lake Park, with its pavilion, is another easy reference.
- The Ridge Road end. Ridge Road (CR 524) marks the south edge, and the Ridge Road Extension runs from Moon Lake Road east to a Parkway interchange.
Add the make, engine and unit number, what happened in the minute before it stopped and any warning lights on the dash.
Breakdowns where Moon Lake Road narrows
On the 2-lane part of Moon Lake Road there is not much room for a stopped truck and a service truck side by side, so safety comes first. Ease the truck as far off Moon Lake Road as it will go, then hazards and triangles. If it is blocking a lane and cannot move, call for traffic control before anything else. When a work zone is active, tell us, because the technician may need to plan around flaggers and lane closures. On a narrow stretch, a short tow to a safe lot or side street before the repair is sometimes the right call.
On-site fixes at Moon Lake yards and job sites
Most breakdowns come down to one failed part, not a failed truck. A technician on site frequently handles:
- Starting and charging. Battery testing and replacement, cable ends, starters and alternators.
- Cooling. A burst hose, a loose clamp or a shredded belt.
- Fuel. A clogged filter, a separator full of water or air pulled into the lines after running low.
- Electrical. The sensor, connector or chafed wire behind a warning light or derate.
- Air brakes. Leaking lines and fittings, chambers and slack adjusters on heavy trucks.
Yards get scheduled work too: oil and filters, chassis lube and inspections done where the trucks park. A Moon Lake visit is documented the way a shop job is, in a digital inspection with pictures and notes, and the repair carries the same warranty too.
When a Moon Lake truck has to make the trip north
Engine internals, transmission rebuilds, alignments and anything that needs the truck lifted get done at 1665 Donto Way. The tow usually runs north on Moon Lake Road and east on SR 52 to the Parkway, or east on the Ridge Road Extension from the south end. Heavy units are covered on our Moon Lake semi truck repair page.
Moon Lake units on an RDI Fleet account have round-the-clock coverage, explained on our roadside assistance page; anyone else can reach us at (352) 433-3800 on weekdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The complete on-site program is on our mobile diesel repair page, and for the college and Ridge Road side just south, see River Ridge mobile diesel repair.
