A yard in River Ridge sits about 29 road miles from our Brooksville shop, close to 40 minutes each way. Send a truck in for an oil change and it spends most of a morning on the road for a job that takes far less time in the bay. RDI Fleet, the fleet program RDI Power runs, is designed around that problem: bring the routine work to the yard, make each shop trip count, and keep a record of every unit that tells you where your money is going.
A River Ridge yard and the 29-mile question
Every shop trip from River Ridge has hidden costs: a driver off the route, often a second vehicle to bring that driver back, and the same again at pickup. The plan cuts those down in a few ways:
- Mobile PM. Our technicians come to the yard with diagnostic tools, filters, fluids and repair equipment. Several units can be serviced in a single visit, on the same checklist we use in the shop.
- Repairs where they sit. Many electrical, starting, charging, cooling, fuel and air brake repairs are done at the yard.
- Shop trips with purpose. When a unit does need a lift or a teardown, it comes in with its PM, open repairs and annual inspection bundled into the same visit.
- Priority service. When a fleet unit breaks, it gets priority in the shop schedule.
Building a plan for River Ridge units: pickups, vans, buses and tractors
No 2 fleets run the same way, so the plan starts with an inventory: year, make, engine, mileage or hours, and the job each unit does. A service van that idles at stops all day gets hour-based intervals. A pickup that runs the Parkway gets mileage-based service. A tractor gets its own aftertreatment and air brake attention. Buses, from shuttles to full-size units, get their brakes, doors, suspension and electrical loads checked on schedule; our bus service and repair page covers that side. Trailers ride on the same River Ridge calendar as the trucks that pull them.
The budget matters as much as the equipment. We look at what breakdowns cost you now and build a plan that moves that spending toward prevention.
Exit 25 and the River Ridge shop-visit schedule
Since the Ridge Road Extension opened to 2-way traffic at the end of 2021 and Exit 25 opened fully in March 2022, shop runs from River Ridge have a direct path: Ridge Road east to the Parkway, north to SR-50, east to Donto Way. Doors open at 7:00 AM on weekdays, so a unit dropped early gets the most out of the shop day.
River Ridge units’ annual DOT inspections go on that same calendar. We stagger due dates so the whole yard is never due in one month, and inspections can be done at the yard or paired with a shop visit; our River Ridge DOT inspections page explains what is checked.
Fleet warranty and around-the-clock roadside on the Ridge Road corridor
Every yard visit and shop visit adds a digital inspection to the unit’s file: photographs of what the technician saw and notes on what was done. After a year, that file answers questions like whether a truck is worth another major repair. River Ridge fleet repairs carry the 2-year / 24,000-mile RDI Fleet warranty, and the account’s 24/7 roadside assistance covers a unit that quits at night or on a weekend.
The program in full, from planning to reporting, is on our RDI Fleet maintenance page. For yards up Moon Lake Road, where the road narrows to 2 lanes, see Moon Lake fleet maintenance. A first call to (352) 433-3800 is enough to start sketching the plan for your River Ridge yard.
