A yard on the Citrus side of the county line sits about half an hour from our bays. That is close enough for shop work and far enough that nobody wants to make the trip twice for the same truck. RDI Fleet, the fleet program run out of RDI Power’s Brooksville shop, is built for exactly that kind of distance: routine work comes to your yard, heavy work comes to us, and the schedule decides which is which.
What moves around Sugarmill Woods on a schedule
Sugarmill Woods itself is 3 residential villages, greenbelts and golf, but the roads around it keep vehicles moving all day. Lecanto High School serves the community, and its buses run out of the school district’s Lecanto transportation office. US-19/98 along the west side carries traffic north and south through western Citrus County. On the east side, the Suncoast Parkway has full interchanges at US-98 and W. Cardinal Street, which puts a toll-road run south toward Hernando County and Tampa a few minutes from any yard in the area.
Whatever your operation runs, from a few service vans to a mixed group of trucks and trailers, the planning starts the same way.
Splitting the work between a Sugarmill Woods yard and the Brooksville bays
The best fleet plans keep shop trips rare and make each one count.
- At the yard. Mobile technicians come with diagnostic tools and on-site repair capability, so oil and filter service, inspections, many brake and electrical repairs and the scan that catches a pending fault happen where the trucks park.
- In the bays. Alignments, transmission work, internal engine repairs and anything that needs a lift come to 1665 Donto Way. When a unit does come in, its PM, open repairs and annual inspection get done in the same visit.
- On the clock. The shop opens at 7:00 AM, and the drive from central Sugarmill Woods by US-98 and Cobb Road takes about 30 minutes, so a unit dropped early is in a bay at the start of the day.
- In line. Fleet accounts get priority service, which matters most on the day something breaks that was not on the schedule.
Suncoast Parkway miles, Suncoast Boulevard hours and school calendars
A single interval does not fit every unit. A pickup that spends its day on the Suncoast Parkway stacks up miles while barely working its brakes. A truck that idles at job sites or crawls through stop-and-go traffic on Suncoast Boulevard builds engine hours that the odometer never shows. Buses tend to follow the calendar, with work timed around the school year. Trailers get their own checks for brakes, bearings, lights and tires, timed to visit with the tractor that pulls them.
We begin with each manufacturer’s schedule, adjust it for the duty cycle you describe, and then let the inspection history tune it. Annual inspections go on the same calendar, so a unit’s PM and its inspection land on the same day; our Sugarmill Woods DOT inspections page explains that side. For a deeper look at intervals, our article on fleet diesel engine maintenance is a good next read.
What a Sugarmill Woods fleet account gets in writing
Each visit, in your yard or our bays, produces a digital inspection report with photos of every finding and the technician’s notes. Kept together, those reports become a service history by unit, which is what you need when deciding whether a truck gets another major repair or gets replaced. Repairs on a fleet account carry the RDI Fleet warranty of 2 years or 24,000 miles, and fleet customers have 24/7 roadside assistance, so a truck that stops on the Parkway on a Sunday is still covered.
A single plan can hold pickups, heavy trucks, trailers and buses side by side. Everything the program covers, beyond what a Sugarmill Woods yard needs, is on our RDI Fleet maintenance page. Operations based a few miles up US-19 can compare notes on our Homosassa Springs fleet maintenance page.
Call (352) 433-3800 with a rough list of units, and we will start building the plan from there.
